ASICS GEL-KAYANO™ 20 by UP THERE

0

When it comes to the ASICS GEL-KAYANO™ 20, Australia has always had a special relationship with the silhouette. Over the years, original colourways have become highly sought after, with collectors willing to pay serious money to secure a pair. Now, Melbourne’s own UP THERE is putting its spin on the fan-favourite runner, delivering a collaboration that’s impossible to ignore.

Dubbed one of the brightest GEL-KAYANO™ 20 releases we’ve seen, the sneaker features a bold gradient that fades from vibrant Safety Yellow into crisp white. It’s a technically impressive design that flows seamlessly from the upper into the dual-layered midsole, creating a striking visual effect that immediately grabs attention.

UP THERE didn’t stop there. The collaboration also incorporates the distinctive mesh from the legendary GEL-KINSEI™ 4, another silhouette that holds cult status amongst Australian ASICS enthusiasts. Combined with reflective detailing throughout the upper, the shoe shines just as hard after dark as it does during the day.

The finer details keep things clean and considered. Signature green hits appear on the lace tips, insole and GUIDANCE LINE, while crystal-clear GEL inserts, an icy outsole and TRUSSTIC shank round out the design. It’s a sneaker that balances performance heritage with modern collector appeal, something both ASICS and UP THERE have become known for.

What makes this release particularly special is how well it captures Australia’s long-standing love affair with technical running footwear. Loud colours, bold design choices and classic performance silhouettes have always resonated locally, and this collaboration feels like a celebration of that culture.

The ASICS GEL-KAYANO™ 20 by UP THERE releases August 20, with an in-store launch at 10:00AM AEST followed by an online release at 6:00PM AEST via UP THERE. If recent GEL-KAYANO™ collaborations are anything to go by, don’t expect these to sit around for long.

atmos pink ‘PINK PACK’ Brings Nike, Customisation & Community

0

Pink took over Harajuku last week as atmos pink celebrated the launch of its latest Nike collection, the PINK PACK. Built around the colour pink, the collection brings together a selection of Nike footwear, with atmos pink adding its own twist through a launch event and customisation experience.

Held on Friday, August 7, the night before the official release, the PINK PACK launch took place at the newly relocated atmos pink flagship Harajuku.

The event brought together sneakers, music, food and customisation, giving the PINK PACK its own dedicated launch experience. One of the main features was the Custom Bar, where customers purchasing from the collection could customise their sneakers with their choice of charms and shoelaces.

I’m always a fan of anything that lets you make a pair your own, and this is probably one of the best parts of the PINK PACK. Rather than everyone walking away with exactly the same looking pair, the Custom Bar gives people the chance to add their own personality.

The event also featured DJ performances, catering and a PINK PACK themed photo booth, adding to the overall experience and giving the launch more of a community feel.

The timing of the event was also pretty fitting for the new Harajuku location. atmos pink’s flagship store relocated and reopened on July 4 under the “PINK HUB” concept, creating a new space focused on the crossover between sneaker culture, fashion and community. The store also introduced its first Socks Bar, giving customers another way to style their sneakers.

The PINK PACK officially released on Saturday, August 8, following the launch event, with the collection available through atmos pink stores and the atmos online shop. The Custom Bar is also continuing beyond the launch event, with customers purchasing PINK PACK footwear at atmos pink stores able to access the customisation service.

And it looks like this won’t be the last we hear about the PINK PACK. atmos pink has also announced plans for further community events around the collection, with more details to be revealed through its website and social media.

For me, this is what makes the PINK PACK more interesting than just another Nike colourway. The pink theme gives the collection an obvious identity, but the customisation element adds something extra and gives people a reason to interact with the release. Nike drops happen all the time, but when a release becomes an experience around the sneaker rather than just the sneaker itself, it feels a little different.

The atmos pink PINK PACK is now available through atmos pink stores and the atmos online shop.

Limited Edt x adidas Superstar Consortium ‘Made in India’

0

The adidas Superstar has been reimagined countless times over the years, but this latest collaboration tells a story unlike any other. Limited Edt and adidas Originals have unveiled the Superstar Consortium ‘Made in India’, an exclusive release that celebrates India’s rich culture, craftsmanship, and growing influence on the global sneaker scene.

Created as part of adidas Originals‘ highly sought-after Consortium programme, the release is one of the first to shine a spotlight on Indian design through one of the brand’s most prestigious collaboration platforms. Even better, it’s limited to just 350 individually numbered pairs worldwide, making this one of the rarest Superstar releases in recent memory.

The storytelling is where this pair really stands out. Inspired by the idea that celebration is part of everyday life in India, the Superstar features a detailed peacock motif across the upper, insole, and translucent outsole, paying tribute to the country’s national bird. Traditional vine patterns reference Indian textiles and centuries-old architecture, while gold lace locks, jewellery-inspired aglets, and gold foil branding add a premium finish. Pops of red and blue complete the design, representing prosperity, purity, and celebration.

The attention to detail doesn’t stop with the sneaker. Every pair comes housed in a custom matchbox-inspired collector’s box, inspired by the ceremonial lighting of the first flame during auspicious occasions. Inside you’ll also find a custom shoe bag, motif socks, alternate red and blue laces presented in a jewelry pouch, and an individually numbered flame charm that makes each pair feel even more special.

Beyond the product itself, the campaign showcases the Superstar where it belongs, on the streets. From vibrant neighborhoods and local celebrations to traditional dance, street art, food vendors, music, and skate culture, the campaign highlights the energy and creativity that inspired the collaboration. It’s a reminder that sneaker culture is shaped just as much by community as it is by the shoes themselves.

The Limited Edt x adidas Superstar Consortium ‘Made in India’ launches August 8 in India and August 12 in Singapore for ₹11,999 and SGD 179 respectively. The release will be available exclusively through Limited Edt stores and online in a full unisex size run from UK 3–13. If you’re lucky enough to secure one of the 350 pairs, you’ll be adding a genuine piece of sneaker history to your collection

LEGO Pokémon SMART Play

0

For years, Pokémon fans have imagined what it would be like to train their favourite Pokémon in LEGO form. Now, that dream has levelled up. The LEGO Group and The Pokémon Company International have officially launched the new LEGO Pokémon SMART Play range, introducing interactive brick-built Pokémon that respond to the way you play—all without a screen.

Unlike traditional LEGO sets, the new SMART Play lineup is designed to go beyond the build. Powered by the new LEGO SMART Brick technology, these Pokémon can react through light, sound, motion, and sensing, creating a hands-on experience where kids can train, nurture, battle, and bond with their favourite Pokémon just like real Trainers.

The launch includes 12 new sets featuring fan favourites including Pikachu, Charizard, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Eevee, Gengar, Mew, Mewtwo, Umbreon, Garchomp, Cubone, Jigglypuff, and more. Whether you’re feeding Pikachu a brick-built sandwich, searching ancient ruins for Mew, or recreating Mewtwo’s dramatic lab escape, each set offers its own unique adventure.

Leading the collection are two SMART Play All-in-One sets. Training House with Pikachu lets builders feed, train, and battle alongside the iconic Electric-type Pokémon, while Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle delivers an action-packed showdown complete with two SMART Bricks for an even more interactive experience. The remaining compatible sets expand the world even further, allowing Trainers to build their own Pokémon journeys one set at a time.

The best part? They’re already available. The LEGO Pokémon SMART Play range is now available through LEGO.com, LEGO Stores, and selected retailers, with Australia among the launch markets. Select LEGO Stores are also celebrating with special Pokémon GO! experiences, giving fans the chance to unlock exclusive in-game rewards and collectibles while stocks last.

Whether you’re introducing a new generation to Pokémon or you’re someone who grew up chasing Gym Badges and filling out the Pokédex, LEGO Pokémon SMART Play feels like the next evolution of interactive play. It’s nostalgic, innovative, and easily one of the coolest collaborations LEGO has ever built.

Under Armour Launches The Bouncy Tee

0

In 1996, Under Armour transformed the humble T-shirt into high-performance athletic apparel. The brand introduced fabric that wicked sweat, dried quickly, and helped athletes train harder and perform better. Now, nearly 30 years later, Under Armour raises the bar again with the launch of The Bouncy Tee, its most versatile performance T-shirt yet.

Unlike a traditional performance shirt, The Bouncy Tee delivers the premium look and soft feel of high-quality cotton while offering the advanced performance athletes expect from Under Armour. As a result, the shirt transitions effortlessly from training sessions to everyday wear.

At the heart of the design, Under Armour blends ultra-soft Pima cotton with NEOLAST™, an innovative stretch fiber that enhances flexibility, durability, and long-term shape retention. In addition, NEOLAST™ supports more sustainable material innovation without compromising comfort or performance.

The advanced fabric responds naturally to movement with a subtle bounce. It keeps its shape, maintains its softness, and delivers a consistent fit after repeated wear. Meanwhile, Rapid-Dry technology speeds up moisture evaporation, helping athletes stay dry, comfortable, and ready for every challenge.

“Since the beginning of Under Armour, we’ve focused on reinventing a better T-shirt,” said Kevin Plank, Founder and CEO of Under Armour. “What started as a simple solution to sweat on the field has grown into something much bigger. I haven’t been this excited to launch a shirt since our original innovations. The Bouncy Tee delivers elite performance while fitting seamlessly into every part of your day with comfort and style.”

By combining premium materials, innovative fabric technology, and everyday versatility, The Bouncy Tee marks the next evolution of performance apparel. Whether you train, travel, or recover, Under Armour designed this T-shirt to keep up with every part of your day.

My Story Presents: NOOBIIE

0

NOOBIIE has built a reputation by doing things differently. Founded by Linda and Gus, the Australian label began with a simple goal: create the perfect everyday T-shirt. That pursuit has since evolved into one of the country’s most respected independent brands, recognised for its premium heavyweight garments, considered silhouettes and unwavering commitment to quality. From supplying blanks to local creatives to developing its own collections, NOOBIIE has grown organically while staying true to its philosophy of creating timeless pieces designed to be worn for years, not seasons.

The next chapter for NOOBIIE officially began on 11 July, when Linda and Gus opened the doors to the brand’s new flagship store and onsite café in Newtown. The launch drew an overwhelming response from the community, with customers filling the space to experience the latest collections, enjoy specialty coffee and connect with the brand in person. More than just a retail store, the new destination reflects the founders’ vision of bringing together fashion, hospitality and community under one roof.

In this interview, Linda and Gus discuss the story behind NOOBIIE, how an obsession with fit, fabric and craftsmanship has shaped the brand, and why curiosity, creativity and community continue to drive every decision they make.

The name NOOBIIE stands out. Is there a story behind it?

Like a lot of founders, we spent far too long searching for the perfect name. Every time we thought we’d found one, someone else already had it. Eventually we stopped looking for a word that already existed and asked ourselves, what if we created our own world instead? That’s where NOOBIIE began.

We’ve always liked that people interpret the name in different ways, but for us it represents staying curious, always learning and never feeling like you’ve finished evolving. Every collection, every new store project and every challenge puts you back into that beginner’s mindset. In many ways, the name has grown with us. It reflects how we’ve built the business from day one: staying curious and figuring things out as we go.

What made Newtown the right home for NOOBIIE?

Newtown has always felt like a neighbourhood that values creativity, individuality and independent businesses. We wanted to be somewhere that felt like us. Local to our creative community in Marrickville, with a bit of grit, plenty of character and somewhere people felt comfortable enough to stop by while they were in the neighbourhood.

So many of our friends, collaborators, brands and small businesses are based around the Inner West, so Newtown felt like the natural place for our flagship store. We didn’t just want to open a clothing store. We wanted to create a space where people could spend time, have a coffee, discover something new and connect with the brand beyond the product.

You began by supplying blanks before developing your own collections. How has that foundation shaped the brand you are today?

We never set out to build a fashion brand. We were simply trying to create a T-shirt that we wanted to wear ourselves. It started with refining every detail over and over again. The sleeve length, the neckline, the weight of the fabric and the way it sat on the body. We kept sampling until it felt just right because we wanted to create a garment we’d instinctively reach for every day.

Everything we’ve built since has followed that same philosophy. If we wouldn’t wear it ourselves, we won’t make it. Whether it’s a T-shirt, sweatshirt or pair of pants, we’re still obsessed with the same details. When people put on a NOOBIIE garment, they notice it straight away. The fit does the talking.

The growth happened very organically. It started with local brands in Sydney and spread through word of mouth. Today we’re sending orders all over the world, including New York, which still feels pretty surreal considering where we started.

At what point did you realise NOOBIIE was becoming more than just a blanks supplier?

It happened gradually. We started by supplying blanks to local brands and businesses, then people began asking if they could visit our warehouse to try the garments on. That led us to opening a small showroom in Newtown.

Soon after, people walking past were knocking on the window asking if they could come in too, so we opened our doors to the public. As our retail community grew, so did the demand for something beyond blanks. People loved the fit and quality, but wanted a touch of NOOBIIE’s own identity. That became the natural next chapter and where our collections began.

Heavyweight fabrics have become synonymous with NOOBIIE. Why has fabric always been just as important as silhouette?

For us, fabric and silhouette have always gone hand in hand. The weight of a fabric changes everything. It determines how a T-shirt sits across the shoulders, how a sweatshirt holds its shape and how a pair of pants fall. You can’t achieve the silhouette you’re chasing without the right fabric behind it.

Our 650 GSM Double Layer Hoodie is the heaviest hoodie on the market, but we didn’t create it to be the heaviest. We created it because that weight allowed us to perfect the shape, the drape and the way the hood sat. Every design decision started with the silhouette, and the fabric became the tool that helped us achieve it.

We’ve never focused on creating more products. We’ve focused on creating garments people instinctively reach for, season after season. Every detail exists to serve the silhouette.

Are there any brands, designers or cities that continue to influence your creative direction?

We’re inspired by much more than fashion. Some of our favourite ideas come from travelling, great cafés, restaurants, architecture, music, interiors and the feeling a place gives you. Sometimes it’s a restaurant, a café, a building, a conversation or even a memory that sparks an idea. Inspiration doesn’t really stay in one lane.

In many ways, NOOBIIE is simply an extension of us. It’s the colours we’re naturally drawn to, the shapes we like to wear, the fabrics we keep reaching for and the spaces we love spending time in. We’re constantly thinking about purpose, function and shape. Every garment has to earn its place. If it doesn’t serve a purpose or improve on something we already make, we won’t produce it.

Cities like New York, Tokyo and Paris continue to inspire us because they blur the lines between fashion, hospitality, design and community. It’s never just about the clothes. It’s the cafés, the restaurants, the architecture, the people and the rhythm of those cities. Ultimately, we’re just designing the wardrobe we want to live in. We pay attention to how people live, how they move through different seasons, what they naturally reach for and how a garment can become part of that.

Many local creatives and small brands have used NOOBIIE blanks. Was building that community always part of the vision?

Community has always been at the heart of what we do. We’ve been lucky enough to see so many local brands build their own ideas on our garments, and we’ve genuinely loved watching that happen. We’ve never seen it as competition. If anything, it’s helped shape the creative community around us.

Today, our store, café and events are simply an extension of that same philosophy. We want NOOBIIE to be a place where people come together over clothing, coffee, creativity and conversation.

Oversized fits have become increasingly common over the last few years. Where do you see the silhouette evolving next?

We think people are becoming less interested in trends and more interested in buying clothes they’ll genuinely wear for years. For us, it’s no longer about whether something is oversized or fitted. It’s about proportion, balance and shape. The silhouette has to feel intentional and work as a whole.

Rather than chasing trends, we’re focused on refining garments that people instinctively reach for. The goal has never been to create statement pieces. It’s to create pieces that quietly become part of someone’s everyday wardrobe.

A huge thank you to Linda and Gus for taking the time to share the story behind NOOBIIE and giving us an insight into the passion, craftsmanship and attention to detail that continues to shape the brand.

NOOBIIE collections, premium essentials and flagship store experience are available now at 83 King Street, Newtown, Sydney, NSW. Visit the store to explore their latest garments, enjoy their onsite coffee and experience the community that has grown around the brand.
