UP THERE x New Balance 991v2

0

UP THERE has levelled up once again, transforming the Peeler Family Orchard’s old apple shed into a dedicated New Balance pop-up to launch their exclusive 991v2 Made in England.

In the lead-up to the release, the team teased the sneaker through select cuts from a short film shot between Castlemaine, Victoria and the New Balance factory in Flimby, England. The mystery kept everyone guessing, with no one except the New Balance and UP THERE‘s team knowing what the shoe actually looked like until the reveal.

The drop blends New Balance heritage with UP THERE’s Australian identity. The silhouette takes cues from classic Made in England pairs, including a subtle nod to the 577 “Carbon Fiber”. Working closely with New Balance designer Sam Pearce, UP THERE introduced new material combinations and thoughtful design touches that give this 991v2 its own personality.

A technical mesh upper sets the foundation, supported by full grain leather overlays and a carbon leather saddle for a refined and performance-driven feel. Reflective accents tie into New Balance DNA, while translucent SBS pods and a matching heel cap modernise the midsole. A timeless gum outsole completes the build. The palette stays mostly black with reflective silver hits, highlighted by flashes of UP THERE’s signature green across the outsole and key branding details.

The Aussie references are subtle but sharp. The lateral “991” branding is replaced with +61, Australia’s international calling code. The tongue features an upside down “Made in England” embroidery as a playful nod to being down under. Three lace sets come in the box for added versatility.

The UP THERE x New Balance 991v2 is a global exclusive to UP THERE and will be available on Friday the 28th of November for $420 AUD.

REVIEW: HIDDEN NY x ASICS GEL-DS TRAINER 14 ‘DAWN’

0

If you’re in Australia and looking to cop the new ASICS x Hidden NY collaboration, you’re in the right place. Today, we’re taking a closer look at the highly anticipated ASICS GEL-DS Trainer 14 “Dawn” in White/Blarney—a clean, premium colorway inspired by early-morning light. Even better, pairs are still widely available across Australia.

Missed out on the ASICS.com.au raffle? Don’t stress—I’ve got you. Head to Up There Store, Subtype, or other specialised retailers, and you’ll likely still find your size on shelves. That’s pretty wild considering the hype every Hidden NY collab draws.

These run true to size but lean narrow, so wide footers should go half a size up for the best fit. Before we even get into the details, I have to call out the standout accessory: the glow-in-the-dark woven plastic extra laces. They’re unlike anything I’ve seen—and trust me, I’m swapping into them instantly.

Once again, ASICS and Hidden NY deliver top-tier storytelling and execution. The pair arrives in a white box covered in lunar graphics, dual branding, and a slick metallic silver sticker—perfectly setting the tone for what’s inside.

At first glance, the upper looks like standard white mesh, but look closer and you’ll notice a subtle mint tint. The toebox and lateral panels use breathable grid mesh, while the medial heel incorporates durable ripstop mesh. The tongue features engineered mesh topped with a Hidden-green moon-phase pull tab.

Signature details from the GEL-DS Trainer 14 return, including the iconic honeycomb midfoot panel. The left shoe features the Hidden NY logo, while the right pairs it with the ASICS “a” logo, with more Hidden branding on the lateral heel.

The sneakers come with white oval laces, but that’s only the starting point. A reflective 3M lenticular strip flashes the Hidden NY logo at certain angles. Silver TPU overlays wrap the toe guard and side panels, while metallic Hidden-green accents sit beneath and outline the ASICS Tiger Stripe.

Underfoot, you get midsole foam with rearfoot GEL cushioning for comfort and impact absorption. A translucent green TPU Trusstic guidance plate boosts stability, and the honeycomb-pattern rubber outsole delivers reliable grip. More storytelling continues on the insoles—green on the left, white on the right.

Lightweight, thoughtfully engineered, and packed with premium details, this pair is a must-cop for ASICS and Hidden NY fans. Retailing at $260 AUD, they’re available now at the retailers mentioned above.

SBTG x Mizuno Wave Rider 10 “Bones”

0

Mizuno joins forces with Singapore’s own SBTG for the first time, delivering a bone clad collaborative capsule anchored by a bold reinterpretation of the Wave Rider 10. The collaboration is now available, bringing together Mizuno’s performance heritage with SBTG’s raw, rebellious design language.

Inspired by late 80s and early 90s punk and skate culture, SBTG brings his signature “Bones” aesthetic to the Wave Rider 10, infusing the silhouette with the spirit of underground zines, street ramps, and DIY defiance. The shoe strikes a powerful balance, gritty hand crafted details layered over Mizuno’s smooth performance architecture. From a distance it carries a rugged, almost militaristic stance, but up close the artistry unfolds with intricate stencil work, camo textures, and deconstructed elements that honour SBTG’s legacy in custom sneaker culture.

The Wave Rider 10 itself has deep roots. First released in 2007 to mark a decade of the Wave Rider series, it was created by designer Tuan Lee for neutral runners who wanted cushioning without losing responsiveness. Beneath the premium suede and retro styling sits Mizuno’s signature thermoplastic Wave Technology insert, a performance driven innovation that blends stability, energy return, and smooth transition in every step.

Mizuno’s story stretches back even further. Founded in 1906 in Osaka by brothers Rihachi and Rizo, the brand grew from a love of Western sport into a global leader in running, tennis, golf, football, and more. Across every era, Mizuno has stayed committed to progressive design, performance innovation, and continually improving its sustainability and craftsmanship standards.

On the other side of this collaboration is SBTG, Mr. Sabotage, a globally recognized sneaker artist known for military inspired storytelling, hand painted precision, and a deep connection to skate and punk culture. Rising to prominence in the early 2000s, his collaborations with Nike, ASICS, Puma, G-Shock and others have cemented him as a defining figure in sneaker art. His trademark camo patterns, stencil typography, and deconstructed motifs reflect a mindset driven by rebellion, independence, and craft.

The SBTG x Mizuno Wave Rider 10 “Bones” captures that collision of worlds where performance meets attitude, legacy meets disruption, and design meets defiance. The SBTG x Mizuno Wave Rider 10 “Bones” is now available, delivering one of the most exciting blends of craft, culture, and chaos to hit the sneaker scene.

Hidden NY x ASICS GEL-DS TRAINER™ 14 “Hidden Dawn”

0

ASICS and Hidden NY continue their momentum with the next evolution of their partnership, introducing the GEL-DS TRAINER™ 14 “Hidden Dawn”, a silhouette built for those who move with purpose before sunrise.

This latest collab elevates the ASICS GEL-DS TRAINER 14 with a blend of precision performance tech and Hidden NY’s signature mystique. Layered mesh, reflective overlays, and structural synthetics create a dynamic upper that shifts with every step. Every material has intention, lightweight, responsive, and stripped of anything unnecessary. Pure function, zero noise.

Drawing inspiration from the bending of light before dawn, silver and green accents carve across the shoe, mapping out the geometry of motion. Each detail, from the panel to the stitch to the vent channel, represents a careful balance of speed, breathability, and support.

Subtle moon phase graphics are hidden throughout the design, a nod to cycles of renewal and forward movement. From the honeycomb mesh to the dual density midsole, the entire build chases lightness both visually and physically. This is a trainer engineered for dawn chasers, city striders, and early movers who get ahead of the world.

The ASICS x Hidden NY GEL-DS TRAINER™ 14 “Hidden Dawn” made its first appearance at ComplexCon Las Vegas (October 24 to 25) which was a fitting stage for a collaboration that blends streetwear, performance, and culture.

The ASICS x Hidden NY GEL-DS TRAINER™ 14 “Hidden Dawn” are now available globally. Stay ready because first light doesn’t wait.

WAY OF WADE Xll Courtside Melbourne Launch

0

Get Ready, Melbourne Sneakerheads!
The Way of Wade Xll is finally here! This weekend, Courtside Melbourne will officially launch two flagship colorways of the Way of Wade 12. You don’t want to miss it! Head down to Courtside Port Melbourne this Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 3 PM for an exclusive sneaker experience packed with giveaways, challenges, and photo moments.

Expect free tees and wristbands, live dunk challenges, and even a chance to win one of five pairs of the new Way of Wade 12 kicks!

While you’re there, here’s a quick sneak peek and first impression of the Way of Wade 12 “DLO Player Exclusive” colorway.

Straight out of the box, the first thing that hits you is how insanely lightweight. These are—my size 9 pair comes in at only 330 grams! That could very well make it the lightest Way of Wade ever released. The design details are equally impressive. A distinct shell-shaped toe box that wraps toward the medial side and finishes with the Wade logo—a clever and stylish touch.

You’ll also notice the embossed ta moko–inspired graphics, giving the upper a fabric-like, tattooed texture that truly stands out. And of course, it wouldn’t be a D’Angelo Russell PE without his signature “DLoading” branding.

Performance-wise, the double-stacked Super BOOM foam delivers next-level responsiveness and bounce. While the carbon fiber plate sandwiched between the foams ensures exceptional energy return and stability. The tongue and gusset design lock your foot in perfectly—creating that “second-skin” feel every guard dreams of.

Though the toe box looks structured and durable, it’s surprisingly comfortable. The upper feels like premium leather but is actually a synthetic material that’s both flexible and durable. Fit-wise, they’re true to size. Wide-footers should go half a size up for comfort.

Finally, the Way of Wade 12 features GCU rubber traction, built for elite indoor grip and long-lasting performance—just don’t take them outdoors if you want to preserve that perfect traction.

This special D’Angelo Russell PE colorway drops this December. Stay tuned to Courtside Melbourne’s social media for updates and release announcements!

REVIEW: ‘NATSUKASHII’ PART ll

0

The first edition was so good it deserved a sequel — and here it is! Introducing Part 2 of the Up There Store x ASICS SportStyle collaboration, an exclusive release that sold out instantly. Nicknamed “Natsukashii,” this latest drop arrives in a fresh Glacier Grey and Pure Silver colorway, offering a crisp contrast to its darker-toned predecessor.

Moreover, this pair feels like a Stormtrooper-meets-Samurai concept — clean, futuristic, and full of character. The upper combines the sleek GEL-Kayano 12 silhouette with premium white patent leather overlays and grey engineered mesh borrowed from the GEL-Kayano 20. Vibrant red accents hit the tongue stay and ASICS heel logo, while reflective 3M detailing adds depth and visibility under light. A subtle yet distinct Up There Store heel tab logo completes the look with understated flair.

Inside, the foam insoles showcase the signature Up There Store green, paired with black printed ASICS and Up There branding. The midsole draws from the GEL-Nimbus 17, utilizing a dual-density FluidRide setup with translucent icier GEL pods this time around for next-level comfort. They also come with an extra pair of light grey dotted flat laces. The TPU Trusstic Guidance System adds torsional stability, while the Up There green Guidance Line enhances natural movement and stride efficiency.

Once again, Up There nails the balance between style and performance. The use of white patent leather panelsKayano 20-inspired mesh, and strategic red detailing makes this sneaker both lightweight and versatile. Even the transparent red and grey trusstic plate beneath adds a hidden layer of design excellence.

Overall, this sequel might just edge out the original. It’s cleaner, more wearable, and effortlessly stylish — easily one of my Top 10 sneaker pickups of 2025. Major props to Up There and ASICS for another monster collaboration!

Up There Athletics x New Balance FuelCell Rebel v5 ‘Same Lane’

0

When passion meets precision, you get something special. Up There Athletics and New Balance team up for their first-ever collaborative footwear project — the FuelCell Rebel v5 ‘Same Lane‘ — a release that celebrates movement, creativity, and the power of community.

The project finds its roots in the 2024 Melbourne Marathon, which saw over 42,000 runners hit the streets in the spirit of connection and perseverance. It wasn’t just about finishing lines — it was about shared moments, personal journeys, and the rhythm that unites every stride.

Through film, animation, stop motion, and photography, Up There captures running as art — layered, raw, and human. The result? A shoe that mirrors that same philosophy. With a palette of black, white, and fluorescent green, softened by hints of pink, the design channels energy, warmth, and individuality. An un-dyed off-white midsole pays homage to vintage runners and the spirit of prototype experimentation, while multiple lace options invite subtle personal expression.

This isn’t just a sneaker; it’s a story you can wear. Built for performance yet styled for everyday life, the Rebel v5 ‘Same Lane’ bridges sport and culture — a symbol of unity and purpose for those who move with intention.
