Let’s take it back to 2010 when two Australian designers from Sydney, Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty, decided to start up their own brand. They would name it Song For The Mute, with the intention of providing a voice for the voiceless.

Now fast forward to 2024, this Australian fashion brand has built up a reputation in the fashion world. Song for the Mute has joined forces with adidas for the third time to create a collection that evokes a nostalgic ambiance while maintaining a distinctly contemporary essence.

The Song for the Mute x adidas ‘SFTM-003’ sees the iconic Country OG silhouette revisited and reimagined in three 90’s inspired colourways – Pale grey and teal nylon reminiscent of vintage wind-breakers, as well as classic black leather with suede detailing. Metallic D-ring hardware is combined with a custom paracord-inspired toggle lacing system, alluding to a sense of futuristic nostalgia.

Creative Director Lyna Ty re-interprets heritage silhouettes with modernist fabrication and detailing throughout the apparel range that accompanies the footwear – featuring eight garments exploring new textile directions and techniques.

Sherpa fleece zip-up jackets are combined with digitally printed contrast sleeves and logo embroidery. Distressed jersey hoodies in brown and teal feature alongside an oversized blazer and press-stud track pants, both in a lightweight coated cotton. A custom jacquard knitwear with intricate contrasting colour-work completes the range.

The Song for the Mute x adidas ‘SFTM-003’ collection is now available online and in-store over at Song for the Mute and at selected adidas retailers. To stay up to date, make sure you sign up to our newsletter. For other sneaker features, click HERE.
