Mortal Kombat Official Trailer

2021 is ramping up its movie schedule with some killer releases. We can thank the guys over at HBO Max for this as the movies will debut in cinemas and on the streaming service the same day. First up we have one of the most anicapted movies which is the reboot to the Midway Games fighting game series, Mortal Kombat.

Funny enough, this movie was shot here in Australia. Well actually in South Australia to be exact. The movie was filmed between September to December 2019. The movie was originally slated for a 2020 release, but COVID-19 unforunately put a halt to that.

While this is a directional debut for Simon McQuoid, he has had the pleasure of having James Wan (Aquaman, Furious 7) produce the movie. So by checking out the trailer we can see this movie has no expense spared.

So how do we create a fighting game into a movie? The premise of the movie goes:
“A washed-up mixed martial arts fighter named Cole Young is unaware of his hidden lineage or why he is being hunted down by Sub-Zero of the Lin-Kuei clan of assassins. Concerned for the safety of his family, he seeks out a clique of fighters that were chosen to defend Earthrealm in a high-stakes battle against the forces of Outworld”
