Sony has dropped a new trailer for the upcoming movie centred around Marvel’s Michael Morbius played by Jared Leto. It feels like a lifetime ago that we got the first trailer for this movie before the COVID-19 pandemic put a hold on the movie causing it to be delayed, but now we have a new release date for the movie along with a brand new look at the blood sucking character.
Leto stars as Dr Michael Morbius, a scientist with a rare blood disease who sets out to find a cure and save others who have the same condition. In trying to cure one issue, Morbius creates another, turning himself into a Vampire. Leto is joined by a stellar cast including Tyrese Gibson (Fast & Furious Saga), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim: Uprising), and Michael Keaton (Spiderman: Homecoming). Keaton’s role is the one that most Marvel fans will be paying attention to, as he shocked everyone when he showed up at the end of the first trailer. He played Adrian Toomes, aka Vulture, in Spider-Man: Homecoming, a film that takes place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His inclusion has many wondering if Morbius is also somehow connected to the MCU.
The official synopsis from Sony is as follows:
“One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.”
So let us know Marvel fans, are you excited in seeing this one? It’s not one i would have picked for the movies, but it sure does look entertaining.
Morbius is due to hit cinemas on January 28th 2022
