Feels like forever since we had a Marvel movie at the movies. Last week Black Widow hit the cinemas and Disney Plus (with Premier Access) and now Marvel is full steam ahead in 2021.
The next movie coming up in the MCU is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings began production in early 2020. But not long after it kicked-off filming in Australia, production had to be halted due to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic. It eventually restarted filming and quietly finished back in October 2020 with impressively no single positive case of the virus.
While the synopsis of the movie hasnt been revealed yet or as to when its actual set in the MCU, the trailer does giveaway a few things. Shang-Chi, the master of unarmed weaponry based Kung Fu, is forced to confront his past after being drawn into the Ten Rings organisation. The 10 Rings organization was referenced as early as 2008’s Iron Man. Plus, Iron Man 3 teased the introduction of the Mandarin, only to reveal he was an imposter. Now, with the Abomination (and maybe Wong!) showing up in the new look, there’s a chance that Shang-Chi will connect to Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and/or She-Hulk. You can bet we’ll have some answers when Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings hits theaters on September 3, 2021.
Let us know what you think and if you are looking forward to seeing this one when it hits the cinemas.
