D23 2022 – Marvel Studios Wrap

Disney’s movie and television studios including Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Walt Disney Studios, Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, 20th Century Studios and Disney Branded Television revealed plenty of news at the D23 Expo, which ran September 9-11 at the Disneyland-adjacent Anaheim Convention Center.

Here is the rundown of what Marvel Studios provided us with a look at

Werewolf by Night: After months of rumours, leaks and news on this project, Marvel confirmed the existence of Werewolf by Night special for Disney+ to stream on the service on October 7th. The Werewolf by Night special marks a brand new chapter for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the past the MCU was just feature films but has since moved on to include live-action serialized TV series and even animated shows. Here is the poster and trailer below

Secret Invasion: We finally got our first look at the upcoming spy thriller Disney+ series which was originally set for 2022, however was bumped back to 2023. The six-episode series will be created and written by Mr. Robot‘s Kyle Bradstreet, and will be based on the 2008-2009 crossover event of the same name. Secret Invasion will center around MCU veterans Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Talos (Mendelsohn) as they deal with an invasion of shape-shifting Skrulls who have infiltrated all aspects of life on Earth. Other MCU veterans will include Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes / War Machine, and Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross. Enjoy the trailer below

On top of these couple of trailers, fans at the expo were treated to some footage from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Loki Season 2, Echo, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Marvels which we are hoping will be online in due time for the rest of the fans to see.

Fantastic Four now has a director confirmed which will be Matt Shakman. Matt is best known for his work on Wandavision & It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The upcoming Thunderbolts movie had some cast members confirmed. Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova/Black Widow II) wasn’t there in person, but is confirmed for the film. A cast photo before the panel revealed that Wyatt Russell (John Walker/US Agent), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava/Ghost), Red Guardian (David Harbour) and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine) are all part of Thunderbolts – and so is Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier! Concept art revealed Black Widow’s Taskmaster is also on the team.

And lastly, Captain America: New World Order had some cast members confirmed as well. The cast of Captain America: New World Order includes Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Tim Blake Nelson returning as The Leader, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Shira Haas making her MCU debut as Israeli superhero Sabra, and Danny Ramirez, who will take on the superhero role of Falcon.
