Throwback to the Future: Oakley® and STAPLE Limited Edition Collectors Pack

The new Oakley® x STAPLE collaboration is a mix of history reinvented and renewed. The limited-edition collector’s package includes the original 1992 Sub Zero and its present-day doppelganger, the 2022 Re:SubZero. The original Sub Zeros were ahead of their time when first released, weighing less than an ounce. This same technical feat has been replicated in this new collaboration for extremely lightweight frames. Both glasses feature a white, marble-inspired design on the temples that complement the all-black frames, honouring this legendary silhouette while paying homage to classic sci-fi iconography.

“This collection connects the past with the future in such a way that celebrates where both Oakley and STAPLE came from as well as where we plan to go,” said Brian Takumi, Oakley VP, Brand Soul and Creative. “Jeff Staple and his entire team continue to infuse our brand with a unique outlook on what’s possible when it comes to eyewear and apparel. The marble-inspired frames in this collection heroes the original Sub Zero and its present day counterpart that’s unlike anything we’ve ever done. Much like the theme of the collection, we explored a new frontier with the STAPLE team when creating it. That relentless pursuit of unique design and adventure is what continues to fuel the success of this collaboration.”

The Sub Zero Collector’s pack includes a new iteration of the original Sub Zero and the reimagined Re:SubZero. Both frames include the Premium Prizm™ Black lens with a laser etched Pigeon logo and feature a marble swirl temple design. Supremely light, each pair will take you through a journey of past and future discovery.

“For this collaboration, we reinvented a revered Oakley classic – the Sub Zero. To me, these frames encapsulate Oakley’s unmatched technical innovation and have an unmatched sleek and futuristic design,” says Jeff Staple, Founder of STAPLE & Reed Art Department. “We put our own spin on both glasses, giving them a laser etched Pigeon logo and a timeless marble-inspired design.”

This release marks the final installation of this year’s two-part product collaboration, following the release of three Oakley x STAPLE Frogskins in June. The new Oakley x STAPLE Sub Zero Collectors Pack will be available:

November 3rd : Available on Oakley.com, followed by Oakley stores globally + StaplePigeon.com. Stay tuned to Oakley.com and @Oakley for further drops.

Avatar: The Way of Water Full Trailer Release

0

Can you believe it’s been 6 months since we first saw the teaser for Avatar: The Way of Water? But now we finally have a full trailer with only 6 weeks till release

20th Century Studios has finally released a full trailer for the upcoming sequel to the 2009 highest grossing film of all time. Avatar: The Way of Water begins telling the story of the Sully family, the trouble that comes for them, how far they go to keep each other safe, fighting for their lives an enduring tragedy.

James Cameron directs Avatar: The Way of Water. It is produced by Cameron and Jon Landau. Produced by Lightstorm Entertainment Production, the film stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet. James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver wrote the screenplay, based on a story by James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver & Josh Friedman & Shane Salerno. David Valdes and Richard Baneham serve as the film’s executive producers.

Avatar: The Way of Water is the first of four planned sequels to Avatar. Cameron may not direct the fourth and fifth Avatar films himself.

“The Avatar films themselves are kind of all-consuming,” Cameron told Empire in an interview published in July. “I’ve got some other things I’m developing as well that are exciting. I think eventually over time – I don’t know if that’s after three or after four – I’ll want to pass the baton to a director that I trust to take over, so I can go do some other stuff that I’m also interested in. Or maybe not. I don’t know.”

Avatar The Way of Water

Avatar: The Way of Water hits cinemas on December 15th here in Australia and December 16th internationally. The 2009 hit is currently in cinemas for a limited time to refresh everyone before the sequel

Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special Trailer Release

0

Another day, another trailer from Marvel Studios. Just yesterday, we had the trailer for Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, and now we have a trailer for the final Marvel x Disney+ viewing from director James Gunn.

So will this Guardians holiday special be essential viewing? The short answer is Yes. According to James Gunn, this will be setting up some plot points for the future of the franchise, mostly around Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 which is due to release in 2023.

“I think it’s really been about telling one story between the three films with a couple of sideways adventures,” Gunn said during Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con panel. “But I think it really is about the one story. This is the final arc that we began at the very beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy, with Peter Quill, with Rocket, seeing where Nebula goes, and even Kraglin, who started out as saying one or two lines in the first movie and is now a main Guardian of the Galaxy.”

The trailer shows a tie in with the first 2 movies which will include a debut for Kevin Bacon into the MCU. We cannot forget from the first 2 movies, Star-Lord’s obsession with Footloose and Kevin Bacon. So this will be extremely funny to see.

“The Holiday Special was pure joy,” Gunn replied. “Vol. 3 was very difficult for a billion reasons, beginning with its size and complexity. It might be my favorite movie but it probably wasn’t my favorite shooting experience, other than the love I have for the whole team.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will stream on Disney+ on November 25th, just in time to get you into the festive spirit for the holidays.

Let us know what you think about this? Will this live up to the Guardians feel? Or is this just another piece of Marvel content that they are taking too far in Phase 4?

Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumaina Official Trailer

0

Phase 5…here we go! The kick off Phase 5 in 2023, we now have the first look at the new Ant-Man & The Wasp movie. This is going to be a big one, this will set the tone for Phase 5 & 6 moving forward.

Marvel Studios has FINALLY released the trailer for Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumaina overnight. After showing the trailer at San Diego Comic-Con, D23 Investor Day & New York Comic-Con, the public can finally get a glimpse into the next phase of the MCU

The biggest thing to take out of this trailer is the new big bad of the MCU, Kang The Conqueror. Played by Jonathan Majors, we finally have the first look at the next ultimate villain. However, this isnt the first time we have met him in the MCU.

We first met the “variant” of Kang in Loki (which aired on Disney+) in the season finale as “He Who Remains”. While it wasnt Kang himself, Majors did mutter the line “If you think im evil, wait till you meet my variants”. Well, we are about to meet the baddest one of them all.

The footage showcased Kang in the Quantum Realm, complete with his comic accurate green and purple color scheme. Kang is also seemingly pulling the strings within the Quantum Realm’s city, which could end up being the MCU’s version of Chronopolis, a time-spanning city-state that Kang rules over in the comics. Before the title card hits, Kang poses a chilling question to Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang.

“I can get you home, and give you more time, if you help me. So, what’s it going to be, Ant-Man?” Kang asks.

If you blinked in the 2nd Ant-Man movie, you might have missed it, we might have had a good at Chronopolis already:

Most notably, Chronopolis is powered by an engine called the “Heart of Forever.” This engine gave Chronopolis the power to exist in every single branch of the timeline simultaneously, which consequently gave Kang the ability to tap into past events at will. In one brief trailer frame, Kang’s hand can be seen placing a brightly-lit sphere into a capsule, which could be interpreted as the conqueror recharging the film’s iteration of the Heart of Forever.

Heart Of Forever

Either way, this movie is gunna be epic. Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania hits cinemas on Feb 16th 2023.

THE KICKZ STAND’S HIT LIST #50

0

My first encounter with the Reebok pumps was watching an NBA VHS called NBA Jam Session, with my cousins. The video was a highlight reel of the best “dunkers” in the NBA, at that time and I vividly remember watching Dee Brown get himself ready for his famous dunk in the ’91 Dunk Contest. I remember seeing him bend down and start pumping up his shoes. My eyes lit up, I’ve never seen anything like it before. I just thought they were the most innovative shoes at the time – I wanted a pair but never had the money. Innovation was definitely the one aspect that drew me to the shoes initially, the second would be nostalgia.

As cliche as it sounds, buy what you like and wear what you like. When you grow up with not much, you learn to appreciate what you have. Honestly, I feel my collection is a good representation of that.

The shoes inspire me. I want to highlight my favourite element of the sneaker I’m wearing. I’m not the best photographer and I’m still learning in that space, but I try to showcase the shoe. Everything I post is for me and it still blows my mind that there are people out there that like it

TITAN x Jordan 2 Retro Low

0

TITAN and Jordan Brand are teaming up once again for the second time. This time around is to pay homage of the past, present and future. Honouring history and celebrating a legacy that continues to unfold. This timeless take on the iconic Jordan 2 is inspired by the Philippines beloved 1954 Basketball World Championship team, reimagined by the unique vision and style of Chi Loyzaga-Gibbs. Chi is a designer, artist, musician and granddaughter of the Filipino basketball hero, Caloy Loyzaga. “The Big Difference” led the Philippine National Team to a bronze medal finish in that now-historic tournament in Brazil.

Decades later, TITAN helps honour that achievement with the Jordan 2 Low and a six-piece apparel set. The collection is inspired by the 1950’s – an homage to the Philippines greatest basketball team in history and a representation of Chi’s modern signature style, with a play on colours, materials and original illustrations that celebrate the widespread influence that basketball has on art, culture, and everyday life.

Premium suede, richly textured corduroy and crisp leather combine with a speckled midsole in a colour palette that’s straight out of the 50’s. Chi’s trademark tropical aesthetic and original artwork live on the sneaker and in the apparel, connecting the spirit of Jordan, her unique perspective on our nation’s legendary podium moment, and TITAN‘s love of the game. Chi’s interpretation of the Jordan 2 honours history while at the same time creates a new chapter of greatness all her own.

Spread the love. Step into greatness. Make history. Make history your own way. Make history proud.
