ASICS has brought back the GEL-LYTE ™ III sneaker in a new colourway – ‘Wisteria.’ The tried and true silhouette re-emerges with emphasis on comfort and a healthy mind and body.

The GEL-LYTE ™ III sneaker’s dynamic fit and identifiable split-tongue shape have cemented the style as the GEL-LYTE ™ III OG staple for ASICS. Originally designed by Shigeyuki Mitsui in 1990, it has re-emerged in many iterations. This time, it has resurfaced in the brand-new Wisteria silhouette. The shoe’s key components (like the trademarked GEL® technology along with other comfort-making features) remain, while introducing a new emphasis on a sound, healthy mind and body.

The new Wisteria colourway shows off a purple and white midsole with a light purple and dark purple upper. A royal purple outsole finishes off the design, taking inspiration from the vibrant wisteria flower. The shoe’s upper features suede and hairy suede panels that are rendered with various shades of lilac and cream tones to represent the tree’s vibrant colour palette. Multitextured, breathable materials and key components, like its signature GEL™ technology unit in the midsole, provides everyday comfort, so the sneakers can support the wearer conveniently wherever they may go.

The new GEL-LYTE™ III ‘Wisteria’ takes inspiration from the historical wisteria tree that symbolises long-life and immortality. In Japan, the plant can live more than 100 years and is often revered as a symbol of everlasting wisdom. This new version of the beloved GEL-LYTE ™ III serves as a reminder that self-reflection is imperative in navigating the tumultuous journey of life and obtaining inner peace.
