Kiko Kostadinov and ASICS continue to blur the line between performance design and forward-thinking fashion with the launch of their latest collaboration, the new silhouette reflects the duo’s ongoing commitment to pushing footwear innovation while drawing inspiration from heritage design.

For those unfamiliar, Kiko Kostadinov is a Bulgarian-born fashion designer who has become one of the most influential voices in contemporary menswear. After graduating from Central Saint Martins in London, Kostadinov quickly gained attention for his utilitarian design language, technical fabrics, and experimental silhouettes. His label blends elements of workwear, sportswear, and avant-garde tailoring, earning a cult following within the global fashion community. Since partnering with ASICS in 2018, Kostadinov has helped reshape the brand’s design narrative, introducing bold colour palettes and progressive footwear concepts that bridge high fashion and athletic performance.
At the heart of the ILARGI FF is a distinctive split-toe construction inspired by traditional Japanese Tabi socks. This design isn’t just aesthetic, it’s engineered to promote natural foot movement and deliver a more adaptive, comfortable fit. The result is a shoe that feels equally grounded in functionality and experimental design.

The model’s lightweight profile also nods to a key moment in ASICS’ history. Its streamlined form references the brand’s original Tabi marathon shoe developed in Japan during the 1950s, a time when performance footwear was rapidly evolving. By reinterpreting this archival concept through modern materials and contemporary construction techniques, Kostadinov and ASICS create a silhouette that feels both nostalgic and progressive.

The ILARGI FF arrives alongside the debut of BUCKLE YUP, an ambitious art project conceived and directed by American artist Ryan Trecartin. Filmed across Tokyo and Okinawa, the experimental film series explores the intersection of fashion, visual art, and commercial culture. Multiple chapters are scheduled to roll out throughout 2026, forming an ongoing narrative that mirrors the creative synergy between the collaborators.

The timing of both projects highlights the near decade-long partnership between Kiko Kostadinov and ASICS, one defined by constant experimentation and cultural dialogue. With the ILARGI FF setting the tone, the collaboration shows no signs of slowing down.

In fact, this release is only the beginning. Additional Tabi-inspired footwear launches are expected in the coming months, each building on the shared design philosophy that continues to redefine what performance-driven fashion can look like.

The Kiko Kostadinov x ASICS ILARGI FF is now available at KIKO KOSTADINOV retail stores and from ASICS.com.au. The wider global release began on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
“BUCKLE YUP” will continue to roll out throughout 2026, with events planned in Los Angeles, Tokyo, and London tied to each chapter of the project.
