Get ready, Melbourne! The New Orleans Pelicans are coming to Australia this October for the first-ever NBA games Down Under. In partnership with the NBL and Visit Victoria, the Pelicans will take on Melbourne United and South East Melbourne Phoenix in two exciting preseason matchups at Melbourne Park on October 3 and 5, 2025.
But it’s not just about the games. The NBA, NBL, and Pelicans will host community outreach events, including a special Fan Night on October 4. This marks the start of bigger plans to grow basketball across the Asia-Pacific region, with more grassroots initiatives on the way.

The announcement was made on the 11th of March in Melbourne by a line-up of basketball leaders, including Pelicans Executive VP David Griffin and NBL Executive Director Larry Kestelman. The Pelicans’ star players—two-time NBA All-Star Zion Williamson, 2022 All-Star Dejounte Murray, and 2016 Most Improved Player CJ McCollum—will be headlining the games.

Tickets will be available soon, and fans can sign up for presale access and updates. This historic event continues the strong relationship between the NBA and NBL, which has seen NBL teams travel to the U.S. for preseason games, along with the success of the NBL’s Next Stars program, sending top talent like Josh Giddey and LaMelo Ball to the NBA.
