KangaROOS has teamed up with Ruttloff Jeans for their first collaboration to create the brand new Ultralite ‘Denim’ sneaker. Ruttloff Jeans is a premium apparel company using only the best denim. This collaboration spotlights this versatile fabric on the Ultralite silhouette, making a truly unique shoe.

Johann Ruttloff has been manufacturing jeans and shirts from the highest quality Japanese selvedge denim since 2010 (ruttloff-jeans.com). This makes him one of the few pioneers of artisanal and sustainable jeans production in Germany. He had an early fascination for this resilient material, and the complex production method formed the basis of a desire, later becoming an urge, to found his own business.

Japanese denim has exceptionally high quality, and also combines a traditional, more ecological production method. This guarantees a particularly long service life, with fair payment for all those involved in the production process. KangaROOS shoe manufacturer Hummel & Hummel also uphold those values. This means that due to the limited availability of materials and labour, there’s no mass-production, so products are strictly limited.

This creates aesthetic products with a story, a noticeable culture, which is the polar opposite of the fast-fashion mentality that is prevalent across the board. KangaROOS’ collaboration projects and all the products that leave both factories are all about creating awareness. We believe that the production of purely disposable goods must end.

The material in this collaboration is mostly 10.1oz natural indigo, lightweight 3×1 denim from Kuroki (Japan, Okayama). The upper material of the Ultralite is a combination of denim and suede as well as embossed cowhide. The lining is also high quality denim.

The Ruttloff Jeans x KangaROOS Ultralite ‘Denim’ will be released on Saturday the 6th of November. Available at 43einhalb / Acribik / AFEW / Allike / Alte Schule / Asphaltgold / Bijsmaak / Egotrips / Footshop / Gloryhole / Hanon / HHV / Lace Up / Mainsource / Outback / Overkill / Schrittmacher / SneakAvenue / Sneakerbaas / Sneakerstudio / Steffl 6th Floor / Street / Suppa and via kangaroos.de/shop.
