To mark the 35th anniversary of the iconic GEL-LYTE III, ASICS has joined forces with Tokyo’s mita sneakers for an exclusive release — the GEL-LYTE ∞ (Mugen). Three years in the making, this sneaker is a celebration of ASICS heritage, design innovation, and Japanese sneaker culture.
The name “∞” (Mugen) is inspired by the number 8 — the sum of the third and fifth generations of the GEL-LYTE series — symbolising infinite possibilities. This hybrid silhouette combines the best of two legends: the distinctive split tongue of the GEL-LYTE III and the streamlined overlays of the GEL-LYTE V. The result is a fresh, modern shape that still carries the DNA of ASICS’ most celebrated models.
Dressed in the signature ‘TRICO’ colour palette — a deep navy and blue accented with red and white — the sneakers pays homage to mita sneakers’ past collaborations with ASICS. The ‘TRICO’ name is a double nod to the tricolour of the Japanese flag and the original Mexico line from Onitsuka Tiger, long before ASICS became the global sportswear powerhouse it is today.
