The LICHEN GREEN/PIEDMONT GREY colourway, which launches on the 7th of January, is an update to the 2018 Olive version, taking a monochromatic approach with various shades of Grey in ribbed nylon and hairy suede filling the panels.
The shoe features updates like a reflective ‘spell out’ logo on the shroud and an alternative ‘Rebel Lace System’ with elastic lace and toggle fasteners for optimised convenience and functionality for the wearer. SBTG’s signature parsillia camouflage also lays under the ASICS logo and on the insole.

The distinctive design showcases SBTG’s artistic interpretation of ASICS Sportstyle’s iconic GEL-LYTETM III silhouette, featuring his signature military motifs through a custom camo print. The model comes equipped with GELTM technology and the classic split tongue design that the GEL-LYTETM model has become known and loved for over the past 30 years.

Here we are heading towards the end of 2020. The year that everyone wants to forget. Unfortunately this year, we all had to take a step back and put life on hold while we got through the global pandemic known as COVID-19. Apart of putting everything on hold this year, meant we didnt get the big blockbuster movies or new TV series that we have reported on that were due to hit the big and small screen.
Now, Disney have finally given us some hope with new release dates, new series, and some fresh trailers for some upcoming goodness we have all been waiting for. Here is a quick recap of what went down in the Disney Investor Day that primarily focused on its streaming service, Disney+
Direct to Consumer
Disney has a plan to expand its direct to consumer business. This is what we experienced with the live-action movie Mulan earlier this year. This is basically putting movies in the threaters and on the streaming service the same day. This will also include 10 Marvel Shows, 10 Star Wars shows & 15 Disney & Pixar original shows & movies over the next few years. The first one of these will be Raya and The Last Dragon which will debut on March 5th 2021
Lucasfilm
The Star Wars universe is quickly expanding. And it appears its going to get even bigger moving forward. The success of The Mandalorian has helped Disney+ get a massive foothold in the streaming space. One of the spinoff series to come from The Mandalorian will be Ahsoka Tano based off Rosario Dawson’s portray of the most famous Torgruta Jedi. This will air sometime in 2022. The 2nd spinoff from The Mandalorian will be Rangers of the New Republic. Along with Ahsoka, these will be coming from Jon Favreau & Dave Filloni who both do The Mandalorian.
Obi Wan will begin production in March 2021 focusing around Ewan McGregor’s character and it has been confirmed that Hayden Christensen will return as Darth Vadar in this series. The series will take place 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith and will air on Disney+
The Bad Batch will follow characters on new missions in a rapidly changing galaxy. Here is the teaser trailer
Star Wars Visions will be a Star Wars anthology series, offering a “diverse” approach to Star Wars. Lando Calrissian is also returning for a series. The Acolyte will be a mystery series set in the final days of the High Republic era. The Droid and Willow will also be on Disney+. Warwick Davis will return as Willow. Jon Chu is directing the pilot and will begin shooting next year in Wales.
Marvel
This is the part that excites me the most. Unfortunately this year was meant to be a massive year for Marvel, but COVID-19 threw it all out the window. So lets refresh what was meant to happen this year in the MCU along with whats coming over the next few years!
New WandaVision trailer. The series is set to stream on Disney+ from Jan 15 2021
We finally got the first look at The Falcon & Winter Solider with an official trailer. This will stream from March 13th on Disney+
And the 3rd Marvel series heading to Disney+ is none other then Loki. Here is the first look before it streams in May 2021
Marvel also gave us an update on the Phase 4 slate with a raft of movies and when we will expect them.
* Shang-Chi & The Legend of the Ten Rings – July 9th 2021 * Captain Marvel 2 – Nov 11th 2022 * Thor: Love & Thunder – May 6th 2022. Filming begins early 2021 here in Australia. Christian Bale has been cast to play Gorr the God Butcher * Ant Man & The Wasp: Quantumania – Peyton Reed is back to direct the 3rd installment which will introduce Kang The Conqueror played by Jonathan Majors * Fantastic Four – Thats right, another F4 reboot, this time…done by Marvel and hopefully done the right way. Jon Watts (Spiderman: Homecoming & Spiderman: Far From Home) is set to direct
On top of the movie list, a raft of new series heading to Disney+
* Hawkeye – Jeremy Renner returns in an original series coming to Disney+ (no ETA) * She-Hulk – Tatiana Maslany will portray Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk) along with Tim Roth reprising Abomination and Mark Ruffalo returning at Bruce Banner in an original series coming to Disney+ (no ETA) * Moon Knight – Early stages. No casting information available. Original Series coming to Disney+ * Secret Invasion – Samuel L Jackson is back as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Skrull Talos return in an original series coming to Disney+ * Ironheart – Dominique Thorne portrays genuins inventor Riri Williams in an original series coming to Disney+ * Armour Wars – Don Cheadle returns as James Rhodes aka War Machine in an original series coming to Disney+ * The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special – James Gunn is back to write and direct this. We have been told its been filmed in conjunction with Vol. 3 of GOTG coming to Disney+ in 2022 * I Am Groot – A series of shorts centering around Baby Groot coming to Disney+
There is alot to look forward too, plenty of time spent in the movies or in front of the TV watching so much Star Wars and Marvel goodness.
No this is not a joke and NO, it is not called ‘breakdancing’. That term was coined by the media in the late 80s and has stuck around to the general public. It’s called Breaking.
The IOC has announced on the 7th of December that Breaking, along with skateboarding, surfing and sport climbing to be included in the 2024 Paris Olympics to appeal to a younger audience. The inclusion of breaking has caused much controversy amongst the general populous, with many questioning the ‘past-time’ being a sport or it being undeserving to other sports.

But the Breaking community has pushed back, with many leaders and figures within the scene coming out to defend the inclusion. In Australia alone, top ranking Bgirl Dr Rachael Gunn aka Bgirl Raygunn, has been able to voice her opinion to the Australian media. “Breaking is extremely athletic – the dancers are athletes,” “You have to be strong, you have to be explosive, you have to have endurance. To those people that say it’s not a sport, I just wonder if they’ve ever seen any contemporary breaking.” This sentiment is being felt at large by the majority of the global breaking community, with advocates around the world talking to their respective media outlets to explain Breaking and why the inclusion is deserved.
Breaking may have been thought of a past time or something kids still did, but the global Breaking culture continues to grow strong, with many ‘battles’ and events still happening to this day. Australia’s largest street dance festival Destructive Steps just ran its 12th annual event with 1v1 Breaking as one of its categories along with many other jams happening across the nation as rules slowly ease from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Australian Breaking Association (ABA) was formed in 2019 to help the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) facilitate Australian representation at the Paris Games and find the top Breaking contenders who will compete for Australia. “Not really all that much to say… Shot was taken during the middle of quarantine…..since I wasn’t really leaving the house or getting out of my PJs I must’ve had a rare spark of creativity so I ran with it. Found some wire around the house to make the laces look like they float 🤷🏻♂️ , had some great morning light in the room and just cleaned it up in post production.”
ASICS SportStyle reimagines the GEL-KAYANO™ 14 model as a lifestyle sneaker, which was first released in 2008 as a running shoe. The ASICS GEL-KAYANO™ 14 model represented a special moment within the brands history in 2008, as the first silhouette in the series to be designed by Toshikazu Kayano. Instead of Kayano, Hidenori Yamashita stepped in to design the ASICS SportStyle GEL-KAYANO™ 14 model.
Yamashita explains how the design language was focused around the idea of ‘Flash’ – “The word I chose as inspiration for the GEL-KAYANO 14 is the idea of “Flash”, “Flash” for me references the burst of action where the runner lands at the heel and pushes away at the toes. Whether it’s the colour, the lines, the materials, the silhouette or the texture – all aspects of the GEL-KAYANO™ 14 are designed with that idea of “flash” in mind.”
The re-introduced model sports the same nostalgic, 2000’s aesthetic that paved the way for the collection on its initial release 12 years ago. The midsole tooling with GEL™ technology cushioning is mirrored to the re-imagined model, keeping the original model’s performance capabilities for the wearers. At the same time, material and fit improvements are made on the upper, while retaining its layered synthetic leather and mesh construction from 2008.
To start off the re-introduction of the ASICS SportStyle GEL-KAYANO™ 14, the “UB1-S GEL- KAYANO 14” releases on the 27th of November. This is the first model which sees the Kiko Kostadinov team working in tandem with ASICS designers, advising and curating on select styles within ASICS SportStyle.
Other GEL-KAYANO 14 models will be released on the 18th of December at ASICS and selected retailers.
Eric Ng is a Sydney based artist/architect. His work ethic is driven by curiosity and nostalgia. He spent his youth in Hong Kong and Sydney which was filled with basketball, drawing, and sneakers, all passions that became pillars of his career. Today, Eric is focused on both client commissions and personal projects. Eric Ng’s ‘Sneaker Eulogy’ series, filled with miniature paintings of his current and past sneaker collection, has garnered global attention through Instagram.
‘Sneaker Eulogy’ series started in 2018 at a watercolour workshop in Sydney, where Eric was drawn to the expressive yet detail-oriented style of miniature painting. Combined with pencil illustration, Eric started memorializing his favourite sneakers, some of which he had recently parted with.
The ‘Sneaker Eulogy’ series first stemmed from the nostalgia tied to the footwear,” says Eric. “I’ve always felt that the stories linked to these paintings, and the shoes they depict, resonate differently from one person to another. There may be common ground in terms of pop culture lore, but each individual responds uniquely because of their personal memories (of a particular shoe). All in all, the series became a vehicle for me to confront my own obsession with athletic footwear in miniscule detail and share with others.”
The iterative process includes close examination of Eric’s favorite sneakers and their intricate designs. And though many of these shoes have been around for 20+ years, Eric has gotten newly reacquainted with them and the ways they became cultural phenomena. What began as a way to pay tribute to his favourite sneakers has become an acclaimed art project shared on Eric’s Instagram page. Typically photographed and framed with a ruler, pencils, and paint materials to demonstrate artwork scale, each ‘Sneaker Eulogy’ miniature nods to specific eras, athletes, and stories.
Sneaker Eulogy – Exhibition by Eric Ng Venue: GAFFA GALLERY – 281 Clarence Street, Sydney NSW 2000 Date: November 26th – December 7th, 2020 Opening Day: Saturday, November 28th. 10-5PM Exhibition Times: Monday-Friday 10-6PM and Saturday 10-5PM Entry: FREE (COVID safe. Check-in required)

Jordan Brand have shown up their release schedule for Spring 2021 (Autumn here in Australia) and boy, there are some killer colourways coming.
The assortment introduces three new women’s exclusives (including the first women’s iteration of the Air Jordan IX) and fresh iterations of the Air Jordan I, IV and V, amongst others.
This exclusive model marks the first time Jordan Brand has introduced the Air Jordan IX to its women’s line. The Air Jordan IX, which was originally released during MJ’s first retirement from basketball, tells an international story that uses the shoes’ outsoles as its canvas. Through distinct global graphics and words in different languages, the shoe illustrates MJ’s impact and influence around the world. That sentiment lives on today, evidenced in this women’s exclusive model which features the phrase “Change the World” on the heel loop.
This women’s release offers a twist on the Air Jordan I Gold Toe, switching out the patent gold from that model for “crinkle” silver — inspired by space innovation and the future of flight. The shoe’s color blocking balances genuine black leather overlays on the toe, tongue and collar, a white quarter panel and midsole, and crinkle silver details on the ankle, heel and toe box. This release will include a size run for Kids and Mens.
It looks like these releases will include a few styles with the “University Blue” colourway which is one of the cleanest colours. The shoe brings genuine University Blue leather to the ankle, heel, toe and outsole, black on the Swoosh and collar and contrasts it with a white quarter panel, midsole, tongue and toe box. A black Wings logo with University Blue branding on the tongue finish off the model’s clean and classic detailing.
With University Blue genuine suede leather upper, this new rendition of the Air Jordan IV combines premium materials with a classic Jumpman color scheme. The shoe’s construction features OG mesh netting on the quarter panel and tongue bottom with recognizable cement splatter on the midsole, heel tabs and wings and is completed by a woven jock tag on the tongue. This one will definately be sought after
The 3rd one in the “University Blue” range is an evolution of the Air Jordan V Stealth, which originally released in 2006, this model puts a fresh twist on the familiar colorway. An all-white genuine leather upper with the OG silver reflective tongue are accented by black on the midsole with a blue splatter finish and blue on the lace toggle and sockliner.
Probably one of the most exciting releases in this batch is the re-release of the 2007 classic “Cool Grey” Jordan 3. With hits of Sport Red and Orange Peel on the tongue, eyelets, Air bag and heel tab, the upgraded construction features a genuine leather upper, matte-finished midsole and elephant print overlays on the forefoot and heel. This one will go fast as its a sought after sneaker amougest collectors.
Celebrating the iconic textural elements of the Air Jordan V in new places, this reconstructed and reconfigured iteration sees the OG reflective material typically found on the tongue upper now on the quarter panel and tongue bottom. This installment, releasing in men’s and grade school sizing, mixes suede leather, textiles and translucence in new ways while also maintaining OG details like the hallmark “23” branding on the heel and splatter finish on the midsole.
This new take on the classic Air Jordan I Retro HI OG takes inspiration from various design cues used in previous Air Jordan I models. Foldable eyelet-flaps, exposed foam on the tongue with a reversed tongue tag and tri-tonal color-blocking of Volt, University Gold and Sail simultaneously pay homage to iterations of the past while creating a new execution of the model.
Taking a more subtle approach to the Air Jordan IX, this rendition pairs subdued tones of black and charcoal on genuine nubuck leather with pops of University Gold throughout the sockliner and branding on the midsole, tongue and heel. The model maintains an OG construction
Another women’s exclusive, inspiration from space exploration showcases the strength and beauty of the technical materials used in spacesuits across this Air Jordan IV. The upper is made of a black and Starfish Orange metallic mesh and is complemented by matte TPU heel tabs and wings. Black mesh netting on the quarter panel and tongue bottom lead up to a raw-edge construction on the tongue upper exposing the foam material underneath. Hits of orange on the toe and heel of the rubber outsole complete the look.
Incorporating classic Starfish Orange — a color rooted in recent Jordan Brand history — this take on the Air Jordan XIII sits an OG genuine quilted leather upper atop the familiar panther paw-like outsole. Complete with the holographic cat’s eye along with a carbon fiber shank plate.
There we have it. Looks like 2021 is going to be another massive year for sneaker collectors. Let us know what ones you’re most looking forward to copping.
