HAL STUDIOS® x ASICS GEL-1130™ MK II ‘Forest’ GLOBAL RELEASE UPDATE

0

The sought after ASICS GEL-1130 ™ MK II ‘FOREST’ will be launching on the HAL STUDIOS website April 18th and launching Globally on the ASICS website April 29th.

ASICS and HAL STUDIOS recently launched their latest iteration of their collaborative partnership with the launch of the GEL-1130 ™ MK II ‘FOREST’. The MK II ‘FOREST’ is a celebration of ASICS’ innovative technology fused with the HAL STUDIOS® Design Thinking ideology.

The MK II design expresses the evolution of ASICS and HAL STUDIOS’ ‘maximal minimalism’ ethos. Following the MK I, launched in April 2022, the MK II sees the classic ASICS GEL-1130 ™  heritage style with stripped back characteristics of the traditional running silhouette, paired with contrasting textures and tones.

The ‘FOREST’ colourway draws inspiration from the natural world, with the palette referencing the forests and Shinto shrines of ASICS’ home, Japan. Wide open breathable mesh and hairy suede panelling coated in shades of green are contrasted against brown leather accents and antique white midsoles. The striking orange highlights on the GEL ™ cushioning heel unit, insoles, and collaborative rubber hang-tag are inspired by Japanese Shinto shrines.

The classic ASICS GEL-1130 ™  style, first released in 2008, maintains its key technological features including the TRUSSTIC ™  support system to provide underfoot stability and iconic GEL ™  technology cushioning. The preservation of these features in the design process allows the heel unit to absorb shock, offering easy-wearing comfort reimagined with a modern feel for the streets.

ASICS Australia Managing Director, Mark Brunton said, “ASICS Sportstyle is excited to see our continued partnership with HAL STUDIOS® come to life with the latest launch of the GEL-1130 ™  X MK II ‘FOREST’ footwear collaboration.

Our Sportstyle team continues to innovate and push the boundaries of the sneaker space with the shoe’s design paying homage to ASICS Japanese heritage and the classic GEL-1130 ™  running silhouette, whilst celebrating the creative vision of a local brand.”

The Kickz Stand’s Hit List #54 Air Max Month Special

What was the sneaker that kick started it off for you?!?

Let’s take it back, I think when I was heaps young maybe 7-8 years old, my first sneaker that I can remember was Kaypee. Do you remember that brand in the Philippines? After destroying that, next sneaker was a Jordan 4. To be honest what really got me into sneakers was watching my favourite player Grant Hill from the Detroit Pistons back in the day. The Fila GH1 started it all for me.

Could you please give us the scoop on this amazing pair of Air Max 1s?

During the early days of The Kickz Stand around 2014, while I was in Singapore for the Sole Superior event. The boys from the event introduced me to Mark Ong aka Mr Sabotage. From there I guess our friendship started. In the same year, Mark launched these series of AM1’s with different camo designs. So I hit him up and asked him to make me a pair that is dedicated to my children. Today these sneakers are still in brand new and awesome condition and have been displayed in a few Air Max Day events in Sydney over the years. When people ask me what are my grails, these are my grails. My biggest achievements in life are my children.

Matin Kim, a Seoul based design label and ASICS have partnered up for their first ever sneaker collaboration with a GEL-SONOMA™ 15-50. The Matin Kim x ASICS GEL-SONOMA™ 15-50 collection will come in a three colourways. The duo’s first global collaboration pack feature the silhouette into an entirely new direction while staying true to the GEL-SONOMA™ 15-50 sneaker’s excellent comfort and chunky aesthetic.

With ASICS being famous for its unimpeachable technicality, and Matin Kim being a brand focusing on making unique pieces associated with minimalism, their link-up starts from asking themselves a self-critical question of “which shoes would I wear when I go on a journey to find my own ego?”. The duo features three colourways with the GEL-SONOMA™ 15-50. Each of the colours will be named in “Glacier Grey/White”, “Oasis Green/Pure Silver”, and “Black/Pure silver”.

“Glacier Grey/White” pair appears in clean leather uppers with a gridded mesh base and the details including nylon eyelet loops and deep treaded soles.

Aside from the subtle material and colour tweaks, “Glacier Grey/White” and “Oasis Green/Pure Silver” colour ways see more comprehensive modification by way of more functional lacing system. All line ups include special details arriving as part of the collaboration include thin lock laces and line ups include co-branding across the patent leather tongue tabs and insoles.

Adityalogy x Parabellum® PHANTOM VRTX

0

Aditya Anugrah aka Adityalogy, our homie from Jakarta, Indonesia, a renowned lifestyle aficionado who has been shaping the Indonesian hype culture over the last decade, partners up with Parabellum Tactical Gear. This collaboration was a long overdue project that sees Aditya working hand in hand with Parabellum Tactical Gear, the forefront brand name that paved the way for the local tactical industrial movement in Indonesia since 2013.

Naturally, the collaboration will spur something mystical, practical & devilishly edgy akin to both parties’ distinctive background. The Adityalogy x Parabellum® PHANTOM VRTX collection will consist of complete apparel & footwear line ups.

Design Principle

phan-tom /’fan(t)em/
noun – a spirit believed by some to visit the living as a pale, almost transparent
form of a person or other ghostly object.

vor.tex /’vor,teks/
noun – something regarded as drawing into its powerful current everything that
surrounds it with irresistible force

The design language of Adityalogy x Parabellum® PHANTOM VRTX truly reflects its name. A mysterious dark presence that lures everything around it not to be intimidated but rather to wander & marvel at its mystifying display. Tis the message that Parabellum translates directly from Adityalogy’s own signature monochromatic style.

Emphasizing the darkness from the black colour to draw the collection’s silhouette has been the ultimate blueprint since the sketching process began. A strong off-white base colour then added to disrupt & lighten the heaviness of the black to encapsulate a balanced lightweight feeling for the final look. Last but not least, straight clean lines were embodied to highlight the modern techno persona of the overall series.

The Adityalogy x Parabellum® PHANTOM VRTX will be releasing on the 29th of March and will be available at Parabellum Tactical Gear website. Make sure you subscribe to our newsletter to keep up to date! Stay tuned for more Parabellum features in the near future. For other previous sneaker features, please click here.

SNKRDUNK Launches Selling Function

0

Japan’s top sneaker and streetwear marketplace SNKRDUNK has recently unlocked its selling function on its global app as part of its international expansion. This added feature now allows international users to list their sneakers for sale, with the potential for it to be viewed by over 4.5 million buyers worldwide.

It’s All Yours: Instant Listing, No Platform Fees
The global SNKRDUNK app has experienced a rapidly-growing user base—particularly in Singapore, Australia and the United States—since its launch in 2021. Committed to improving the marketplace experience for this highly engaged community, SNKRDUNK expedited the launch of its crucial selling feature, allowing sneakerheads to sell their authentic sneakers to over 4.5 million potential buyers across the globe.

Currently, users from the following 8 countries will be able to access the selling feature, with more countries added in the coming months:
● Singapore
● Australia
● United States
● Canada
● New Zealand
● Malaysia
● South Korea
● Macau
● Thailand
● Indonesia
● China
● India
● Philippines
● Vietnam
● Hong Kong

Differentiating itself through competitive offerings, SNKRDUNK App continues to offer zero platform fees for buyers and sellers. Notably, sellers will be able to instantly list their sneakers on SNKRDUNK with no listing fees. When their item has been purchased by a buyer, sellers simply send over their sneakers to SNKRDUNK’s Singapore-based warehouse for authentication. As the platform has maintained since its inception, no authentication service fees will be charged to either buyer or seller.

Reach a New Category of Buyers
This unlocked selling function is particularly attractive due to SNKRDUNK’s roots in fashion-centric Japan and physical presence in Singapore, allowing sneaker collectors to sell their coveted items to potential Japanese buyers and neighbouring countries, like Taiwan, Indonesia, and India—all of which have been notoriously hard to penetrate from English-based platforms.

Expert Authentication: Only the Real Deal
Although SNKRDUNK’s seller base has expanded to include a larger international pool from 8 countries, the platform continues to uphold its strict authentication standards. Since 2021, SNKRDUNK has been revered for its stringent authentication system which ensures its leading reputation in the highly lucrative sneaker and streetwear marketplace. The company’s team of expert sneaker authenticators verify the products against a refined database that houses thousands of authentication records, leading to a 99.96% authentication accuracy rate. [Calculated from the number of transactions from 1 March 2021 to 31 March 2022.]

The comprehensive SNKRDUNK authentication process will continue to ensure that all of its
sneakers are 100% authentic, even with the increased volume of sneakers from varied sources. The professionalism of SNKRDUNK’s appraisal process has been recognised and tapped on by Sneaker Con SEA, the famed sneaker conference’s Southeast Asian programme, for its Legit Check service in the sneaker trading pit.

The Kickz Stand’s Hit List #53

0

Briefly tell us your origin story with sneakers. What was the silhouette that got you hooked in?

This would be the Nike Air Jordan 4. As a kid these were very hard to come by (I was living in the Sultanate of Oman in the 80’s at this time) and if you were lucky to get your hands on a pair they came with a pretty hefty price tag. I actually only got into collecting sneakers in 2017 when I just happened to win a pair of Yeezy Zebras. I was drawn to not just the silhouette but the marketing and release process as well as the hype. My collection really took off in 2019. An amazing year that allowed me to relive the 80’s and 90’s all over again. In 2019 I was very lucky to have won the Jordan 4 Bred and the Jordan 6 Infrared through SNS and I picked up the Jordan 11 Bred for retail from a friend later that year.

What is your current rotation like?

It’s varied and depends on the season or weather. Adidas Ultra boost and Yeezys have been my go to for getting errands done around the city, Jordan’s generally for when the wife and I go out as they can be quite versatile by dressing them up or down. I also have a few ASICS Onitsuka Tigers that I’ll wear from time to time.
I’ve been rocking the 9060 model from New Balance a lot recently which is now a regular staple in my rotation.

My current rotation:

2021 Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘Patent Bred’
2022 A Ma Maniére x Air Jordan 4 ‘Violet Ore’
2022 New Balance 9060 ‘Burgundy’
2017 Adidas EQT Support 93/17 ‘Black Glitch’

What is your thought process when creating your amazing sneaker shots?

This hasn’t been easy. I’ve taken inspiration from a lot of people but there is one person in particular who has helped me out a lot – Andy Dutton (@ad_sneaks).
Andy has been very helpful by sharing details around what editing software he uses, tools like lighting and c-stands, lenses he uses and tricks he’s discovered. I work a full time job and I have a family so trying to experiment when I get some free time rarely happens. My nearly 10 year old has several artistic qualities so she’ll also come up with ideas of how to showcase a sneaker. (She came up with the shot show casing the upside down J1 sole rainbow).

My thought process generally entails the sneaker. What are the defining aspects to me that I would like to share with others. I am fascinated with the chunky oversized sole of the NB 9060 and in one of my recent shots of the ‘Nightwatch’ I captained the back of this silhouette to simply highlight the pop of lime green on the outsole and the purple NB logo on the collar. The New Balance inscription in yellow too stood out and I think for me tones the lime green down a little.

Sometimes the shot doesn’t come out as expected but this is all part of my learning process. I can only get better.

G-SHOCK G-SQUAD GBD-H2000 Series

0

CASIO announced the latest addition to the sports-driven G-SQUAD line in the G-SHOCK family of shock-resistant watches. The GBD-H2000 delivers support for multiple sports and boasts a lighter weight to ensure an even more comfortable fit. The new GBD-H2000 series will be available in four models.

The shock-resistant GBD-H2000 is equipped with GPS functionality and six sensors to provide support for a wide range of sports activities, yet is 38% lighter than the previous model, the GBD-H1000. Casio achieved the lighter weight design by creating a more compact case with a built-in GPS antenna and carbon fiber-reinforced case back. The result is an even more comfortable fit on the wrist.

The new watch is equipped with GPS functionality and an optical sensor to measure heart rate, as well as a compass, altitude/air pressure sensor, thermo sensor, accelerometer, and gyroscope. These high-end technologies enable measurement of distance, speed, pace, and more to support activities from running and biking to swimming.

Training analysis functions are included along with these activity measurements. Algorithms developed by Polar Electro Oy, a pioneer in the industry which has spent nearly 50 years perfecting the art of personalized guidance in fitness, sport and health, are used to measure the burden on the heart and lungs, analyse ratios of energy used separately for carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, and perform sleep tracking.

Pairing the watch with the dedicated CASIO WATCHES app allows users to review training data from the watch in greater detail, accessing activity logs, advice on improving sleep and more. Solar-assisted charging is also included to improve ease of use, offering time display powered by solar charging even when the battery runs low.

The case, bezel, and band are made with biomass plastics, an eco-friendly material produced using raw materials from castor seeds and corn.
