Flare Red Series for G-SHOCK 40th Anniversary

In the lead up to the G-SHOCK 40th anniversary in April 2023, CASIO is looking to connect with each and every G-SHOCK fan through various activities, including releasing commemorative models and holding special events in various places around the world. To start things off, CASIO has announced the release of two new additions to the G-SHOCK brand of shock-resistant watches.

CASIO kicks this all off with the MTG-B3000FR and GWG-2040FR, two Flare Red anniversary models boasting the red G-SHOCK brand colour in an intensely blazing solar flare design.

G-SHOCK got its start with a single-page plan to construct a watch that wouldn’t break, even if dropped. It debuted in 1983 with a shock-resistant construction that overturned conventional wisdom on the fragility of wristwatches. Its unparalleled toughness and unique design has won G-SHOCK the support of users worldwide, with sales in more than 140 countries and regions and cumulative shipments of more than 140 million units.

The 40th anniversary Flare Red models, the MTG-B3000FR and GWG-2040FR, feature multicolour laminated bezels made with phosphorescent materials in the red G-SHOCK brand colour. The design evokes solar flares, the massive eruptions of intense energy from the sun’s surface.

CASIO used a newly developed technique to laminate carbon and coloured glass fibre sheets together and hew them into bezel form. Phosphorescent particles mixed into the glass fibre sheets create powerful designs that are stunning even in the dark. The bezel of every single watch has its own unique look, since the materials present a one-of-a-kind appearance depending on where in the lamination the bezel is hewn. A solar flare-inspired pattern printed on the dial with clear toner adds to the dynamic face design.

For the GWG-2040FR, phosphorescent particles are also mixed into the forged carbon of the lugs that connect the case to the band to create random patterns of wondrous glow-in-the-dark beauty.

The logo commemorating the G-SHOCK 40th anniversary, designed by world-renowned graffiti artist Eric Haze, is engraved on the case back. These timepieces also feature four stars to signify “40,” an extra-special touch for the first wave of models to commemorate 40 years of G-SHOCK innovation.

Under Armour Opens a New Brand House at Melbourne Central

Under Armour (UA) a global leader in sporting performance apparel, footwear and accessories has announced today it will continue its expansion plans in Australia with the opening of its seventh UA Brand House location. Melbourne Central will be home to the Baltimore-based sportswear giant’s new Melbourne Flagship store and will house the best of the brand’s signature innovations and collections.

The grand opening of Melbourne Central UA Brand House is scheduled for Thursday 17th November, at 6:00pm.

Located on 300 Lonsdale Street (Shop 042), the 277 sqm UA Brand House will be a fully immersive brand experience and showcase Under Armour’s latest men’s and women’s train, run, golf and basketball apparel and expanded selection of footwear including, UA HOVRTM, UA FLOW, Project Rock, Curry Brand, UA RUSHTM and UA Recover collections.

In tribute to Melbourne’s growing basketball and street culture, the Melbourne Central UA Brand House opening will coincide with the launch of the new Curry Flow 10 basketball shoe, including the hotly anticipated “Sour Then Sweet” colourway, that builds on the Sour Patch kids collection first debuted with the Curry 7.


Under Armour teamed up with local artist, Rory Lynch-Wells to create a series of murals at the Melbourne Central Brand House inspired by Under Armour’s local and global athletes that reflect the brands’ spirit and ethos.

To celebrate the grand opening of Melbourne Central UA Brand House, Under Armour will have a series of activities and offers planned for opening night, or while stocks last.


The Melbourne Central UA Brand House launch event will be hosted by former NBL Champion and Sports Broadcaster Peter Hooley who will lead a series of Q&A’s with Under Armour athletes and VIPs including Australian Footballer and two-time Olympian Chloe Logarzo, two-time Olympian and professional basketball player, Cayla George, UFC fighter Jimmy Crute and Australian professional boxer Micahel Zerafa.

All customers can enjoy their shopping experience with DJ and Triple J host Jade Zoe on the decks from 6:00pm – 9:00pm, free temporary tattoos and light refreshments provided.


Opening night is packed full of offers and giveaways including $100 to spend in store on the night for the first 50 customers to enter the doors. As a further incentive, UA will give customers a chance to win signed items by UA athlete Chloe Logarzo, special edition Curry Brand basketballs, and JBL x Project Rock Headphones.

John Wick: Chapter 4 Official Trailer

Well, its been a minute since we had a new John Wick movie. Back in 2020 they announced John Wick 5 was in development before they had even started filming the 4th installment. Here we are, a couple of years later, and now after lengthy delays thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, we finally have an official trailer and a release date for the 4th movie in the Kenu Reeves franchise.

John Wick: Chapter 4 will see the return of Laurence Fishburne as the Bowery King, Lance Reddick as Charon, and Ian McShane as Winston. The movie also features some exciting new additions to the cast including Donnie Yen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Bill Skarsgård (It and It Chapter Two), and Japanese-British pop star Rina Sawayama. Chad Stahelski, who has directed every John Wick film, recently spoke with Variety about what fans can expect in Chapter 4.

“I love mythology,” Stahelski told Variety. “I love a good myth. I don’t really believe – at least for the John Wick movies – in a three-act structure. I believe in storytelling and leaving it. You know, we’ve always seen John Wick as Odysseus. So we take the time we need to tell the story. As long as we don’t fall asleep watching it, we keep it going. But I guess there is a bathroom limit.”

As we mentioned above, this 4th movie is not the only project in development in the franchise. The Starz network is working on a series dubbed “The Continental” which will be a prequel set decades before the original films. On top of this, Lionsgate has a “Ballerina” feature in development which will be based around Anjelica Huston’s character from John Wick 3 “Parabellum”. As for which characters from the original films will appear, this will be announced later down the track. The only one so far confirmed is Ian McShane (Winston) to reprise his role.

CASIO is pleased to announce the Super Mario Bros. x G-SHOCK collaboration with the DW-5600SMB-4 model. It features the design elements from the popular Nintendo® game, Super Mario Bros. This limited-edition timepiece represents the classic 1980s game through its whimsical design and nostalgic theme, as well as Mario’s “never give up” attitude that parallels the spirit of challenge present in G-SHOCK’s origins.

Both G-SHOCK and Super Mario are cultural icons from Japan that have amassed dedicated fanbases that span decades and countries. The 8-bit Mario is printed on the band like camouflage, and all the dial fonts are 8-bit to create the atmosphere of 1985. To commemorate the collaboration, the watch comes in special packaging with an illustration of the opening screen of the game and Mario’s signature phrase, “Here we go!”

It’s More Than Just Sneakers Perth 2022 Recap

After a great event in Sydney, It’s More Than Just Sneakers – Lifestyle Tour packed its bags and made the trip all the way west to Perth, Western Australia for our next stop!

The last It’s More Than Just Sneakers event held in Perth was the way back in May 2019. We were very keen to see how the Perth scene has changed and evolved since that time. Like many of the other cities we have been to for events this year, Perth has continued to evolve and has a very active sneaker and streetwear community.

Local vendors were out in force with some great heat on tables and racks of cool clothing. We were all pleasantly surprised with the mix of people who attended this event. It was great to see our old friends as well as make new ones as everyone got along and enjoyed the day.

A massive shout out to the local Monster Energy team for keeping attendees energized. We like to show appreciation to the team at The Leisurelife Centre for the great space used for the event.

Throwback to the Future: Oakley® and STAPLE Limited Edition Collectors Pack

Can you believe it’s been 6 months since we first saw the teaser for Avatar: The Way of Water? But now we finally have a full trailer with only 6 weeks till release

20th Century Studios has finally released a full trailer for the upcoming sequel to the 2009 highest grossing film of all time. Avatar: The Way of Water begins telling the story of the Sully family, the trouble that comes for them, how far they go to keep each other safe, fighting for their lives an enduring tragedy.

James Cameron directs Avatar: The Way of Water. It is produced by Cameron and Jon Landau. Produced by Lightstorm Entertainment Production, the film stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet. James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver wrote the screenplay, based on a story by James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver & Josh Friedman & Shane Salerno. David Valdes and Richard Baneham serve as the film’s executive producers. 

Avatar: The Way of Water is the first of four planned sequels to Avatar. Cameron may not direct the fourth and fifth Avatar films himself.

“The Avatar films themselves are kind of all-consuming,” Cameron told Empire in an interview published in July. “I’ve got some other things I’m developing as well that are exciting. I think eventually over time – I don’t know if that’s after three or after four – I’ll want to pass the baton to a director that I trust to take over, so I can go do some other stuff that I’m also interested in. Or maybe not. I don’t know.”

Midsöle: Sydney Sneaker Art Exhibition

A night of friends, art, music, drinks and of course, sneakers! Midsöle is an art exhibition presented by aMBUSH Gallery and curated by Ladyj wüllf and Philm Corp Media, which focuses solely on sneakers and streetwear and showcases the work of 44 Sydney-based artists in a wide array of mediums, from paintings and illustrations to mixed media pieces and customised sneakers, with nearly all pieces available for purchase.

Opening night (Thursday the 27th of October) not only allowed the audience to take in the art pieces but potentially walk home with a new pair of sneakers curtesy of one of the sponsors Solemate Sneakers which were both on sale and some coveted pairs being raffled off.

You can check out the exhibition in person at aMBUSH Gallery (4a James Street, Waterloo, NSW) from Friday 28 October until Sunday 30 October, between 12pm to 4pm. Entry is free!

Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special Trailer Release

Another day, another trailer from Marvel Studios. Just yesterday, we had the trailer for Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, and now we have a trailer for the final Marvel x Disney+ viewing from director James Gunn.

So will this Guardians holiday special be essential viewing? The short answer is Yes. According to James Gunn, this will be setting up some plot points for the future of the franchise, mostly around Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 which is due to release in 2023.

“I think it’s really been about telling one story between the three films with a couple of sideways adventures,” Gunn said during Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con panel. “But I think it really is about the one story. This is the final arc that we began at the very beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy, with Peter Quill, with Rocket, seeing where Nebula goes, and even Kraglin, who started out as saying one or two lines in the first movie and is now a main Guardian of the Galaxy.”

The trailer shows a tie in with the first 2 movies which will include a debut for Kevin Bacon into the MCU. We cannot forget from the first 2 movies, Star-Lord’s obsession with Footloose and Kevin Bacon. So this will be extremely funny to see.

“The Holiday Special was pure joy,” Gunn replied. “Vol. 3 was very difficult for a billion reasons, beginning with its size and complexity. It might be my favorite movie but it probably wasn’t my favorite shooting experience, other than the love I have for the whole team.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will stream on Disney+ on November 25th, just in time to get you into the festive spirit for the holidays.
