Jordan Brand 2021 Spring (Autumn) Release

0

Jordan Brand have shown up their release schedule for Spring 2021 (Autumn here in Australia) and boy, there are some killer colourways coming.

The assortment introduces three new women’s exclusives (including the first women’s iteration of the Air Jordan IX) and fresh iterations of the Air Jordan I, IV and V, amongst others.

This exclusive model marks the first time Jordan Brand has introduced the Air Jordan IX to its women’s line. The Air Jordan IX, which was originally released during MJ’s first retirement from basketball, tells an international story that uses the shoes’ outsoles as its canvas. Through distinct global graphics and words in different languages, the shoe illustrates MJ’s impact and influence around the world. That sentiment lives on today, evidenced in this women’s exclusive model which features the phrase “Change the World” on the heel loop.

This women’s release offers a twist on the Air Jordan I Gold Toe, switching out the patent gold from that model for “crinkle” silver — inspired by space innovation and the future of flight. The shoe’s color blocking balances genuine black leather overlays on the toe, tongue and collar, a white quarter panel and midsole, and crinkle silver details on the ankle, heel and toe box. This release will include a size run for Kids and Mens.

It looks like these releases will include a few styles with the “University Blue” colourway which is one of the cleanest colours. The shoe brings genuine University Blue leather to the ankle, heel, toe and outsole, black on the Swoosh and collar and contrasts it with a white quarter panel, midsole, tongue and toe box. A black Wings logo with University Blue branding on the tongue finish off the model’s clean and classic detailing.

With University Blue genuine suede leather upper, this new rendition of the Air Jordan IV combines premium materials with a classic Jumpman color scheme. The shoe’s construction features OG mesh netting on the quarter panel and tongue bottom with recognizable cement splatter on the midsole, heel tabs and wings and is completed by a woven jock tag on the tongue. This one will definately be sought after

The 3rd one in the “University Blue” range is an evolution of the Air Jordan V Stealth, which originally released in 2006, this model puts a fresh twist on the familiar colorway. An all-white genuine leather upper with the OG silver reflective tongue are accented by black on the midsole with a blue splatter finish and blue on the lace toggle and sockliner.

Probably one of the most exciting releases in this batch is the re-release of the 2007 classic “Cool Grey” Jordan 3. With hits of Sport Red and Orange Peel on the tongue, eyelets, Air bag and heel tab, the upgraded construction features a genuine leather upper, matte-finished midsole and elephant print overlays on the forefoot and heel. This one will go fast as its a sought after sneaker amougest collectors.

Celebrating the iconic textural elements of the Air Jordan V in new places, this reconstructed and reconfigured iteration sees the OG reflective material typically found on the tongue upper now on the quarter panel and tongue bottom. This installment, releasing in men’s and grade school sizing, mixes suede leather, textiles and translucence in new ways while also maintaining OG details like the hallmark “23” branding on the heel and splatter finish on the midsole.

This new take on the classic Air Jordan I Retro HI OG takes inspiration from various design cues used in previous Air Jordan I models. Foldable eyelet-flaps, exposed foam on the tongue with a reversed tongue tag and tri-tonal color-blocking of Volt, University Gold and Sail simultaneously pay homage to iterations of the past while creating a new execution of the model.

Taking a more subtle approach to the Air Jordan IX, this rendition pairs subdued tones of black and charcoal on genuine nubuck leather with pops of University Gold throughout the sockliner and branding on the midsole, tongue and heel. The model maintains an OG construction

Another women’s exclusive, inspiration from space exploration showcases the strength and beauty of the technical materials used in spacesuits across this Air Jordan IV. The upper is made of a black and Starfish Orange metallic mesh and is complemented by matte TPU heel tabs and wings. Black mesh netting on the quarter panel and tongue bottom lead up to a raw-edge construction on the tongue upper exposing the foam material underneath. Hits of orange on the toe and heel of the rubber outsole complete the look.

Incorporating classic Starfish Orange — a color rooted in recent Jordan Brand history — this take on the Air Jordan XIII sits an OG genuine quilted leather upper atop the familiar panther paw-like outsole. Complete with the holographic cat’s eye along with a carbon fiber shank plate.

There we have it. Looks like 2021 is going to be another massive year for sneaker collectors. Let us know what ones you’re most looking forward to copping.

SneakerLAH x HUNDRED% x ASICS GEL-LYTE III ‘Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers’

0

After the ASICS GEL-KAYANO 5 OG ‘Nasi Lemak’ in 2019, Malaysia streetwear store HUNDRED% and SneakerLAH, Malaysia’s biggest sneaker event joins forces once again with ASICS for another collaboration. This time around with ASICS most prominent silhouette, the GEL-LYTE III – currently celebrating the silhouette’s 30th anniversary.

Concept behind the collaboration pays homage to one of Malaysia’s most iconic landmark, the Petronas Twin Towers. The Petronas Twin Towers was the title holder for the tallest building in the world from 1998 till 2004 and is currently reigning as the tallest twin towers globally, which was fully completed and open to the public with the first batch of Petronas personnel moving into the building on the 1st of January 1997.

The colourway of the sneaker is designed as closely as possible to resemble the Twin Towers with an eye-catching metallic silver upper portraying the metallic aesthetics of the towers, subtle hints of green to symbolize the tint of the tower’s windows, a reflective iridescent stripe to represent the reflection of the tower’s windows during different times of the day, completed with a green translucent sole to mimic a visitor’s vision looking out or in from the tower’s windows.

A few other subtle details worth mentioning would be the OG mesh material on the uppers keeping the silhouette true to its original build from 1990, a patch on the tongue stating general facts related to the Petronas Twin Towers, speckles on the midsole to represent rain droplets on the windows of the Twin Towers during Malaysia’s rainy days and lastly, a debossed ‘LAH’ branding presents itself on the heel cup of the silhouette commemorating the pair as a true Malaysian collaboration.

The SneakerLAH x HUNDRED% x ASICS GEL-LYTE III ‘Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers’ will be released on sneakerlah.com via a raffle system which will be open for registration on the 3rd and 4th of December for Malaysian residents, while a global release will be on the 19th of December.

Self-Lacing Air Jordan 11 Adapt

0

Thats right folks, this is not fake news. This is indeed the real deal!

25 years ago, the Air Jordan 11 made its debut in the world on Michael Jordan’s feet during his comeback run late in the 1995 NBA Season. As part of the 25th Anniversay celebration of the Air Jordan 11, Jordan Brand has, for the first time ever, infused the Nike Adapt technology to the shoe.

Like with other Adapt-laden footwear such as the Adapt BB 2.0 and Adapt Auto Max, the Air Jordan 11 Adapt can be tightened and loosened through App functionality, or with analog buttons placed at the midfoot of the shoe. The Adapt Jordan 11 comes with the charging pad and plug.

The over silhouette of the Air Jordan 11 remains largely unchanged, but with minor modifications that speak the futurist aesthetic. The upper features a translucent layer that covers the lace eyelet strips an the statement Jumpman logo on the heel. Replacing the classic rope laces are the thin cords – part of the lock-down mechanism of Adapt technology. Finishing off the look is a translucent icy sole and a colorway that reflect Tinker’s early sketches of the famed sneaker.

The release date for this shoe, is set for December 30, 2020 at this stage via the SNKRS App (doesnt look like an Australian release at this stage!)

So whats the verdict on these ones? Keen to cop? Let us know what you think!

Kiko Kostadinov x ASICS GEL-GLIDELYTE™ III

0

In celebration of the GEL-LYTE™ III model’s 30th anniversary, ASICS have invited Kiko Kostadinov to collaborate on a special edition hybrid model, the GEL-GLIDELYTE™ III.

The GEL-GLIDELYTE™ III model is an embodiment of ASICS technology and craftsmanship, merging two of their most iconic silhouettes; The GEL-LYTE™ III and the GLIDERIDE™ models – famed for saving runners energy via its GUIDESOLE™ technology present within the curved sole.

This shape minimises lower leg movement through each stride, giving the runner a feeling of seamless coasting. The upper design language is inspired by the GEL-LYTE™ III shoe with the split tongue and the asymmetric toe window near the front of the model.

A PU part, inspired by the GEL-NIMBUS™ 5 model, runs across the upper with a back counter construction of overlaying mesh, reminiscent of the GEL-HOCKEY TYPHOON 2 model. The GUIDESOLE™ technology rounds off the design element of the sneaker, providing an increased feeling of comfort, stability and a cushioned ride for the wearer.

The Kiko Kostadinov x ASICS GEL-GLIDELYTE™ III, will be released under ASICS SportStyle on the 13th of November, in Asphalt/High Rise and Red Bud/Fire Brick available in selected Australian retailers – Above The Clouds, Up There, Laced and Sneakerboy.

NBA 2020-21 Season Start?

0

Only feels like yesterday we had the 2019-20 season wrap up with the Los Angeles Lakers taking home the gold, and then the question everyone had was will the 2020-21 season actual start in 2020? Well, now we have an answer!

Last Thursday (5th November 2020), the NBA Players association confirmed its representatives tentatively approved a 72 game season that will commence on December 22nd. This will mean the training camps for players to resume will take place 3 weeks prior on the 1st December.

Unfortunately, with the shorten season means the 2021 NBA All-Star Weekend will be scrapped. As for when fans would be allowed back into the stadiums to watch their teams play, this is still an ongoing question.

The league believes that a December 22 start that would include Christmas Day games on television and allows for a 72 game schedule that finishes before the summer olympics in mid-July is worth between $500million and $1 billion in short-and long term revenues to the league and players.

There are some players however now considering sitting out the start of the season from the Lakers due to the quick turnaround. These are simply rumours at the present and may in fact be not true.

Not every team was in the same position as the Lakers and Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat, though. The eight franchises that didn’t travel to the Walt Disney World Resort bubble haven’t played since March, and those that didn’t make deep postseason runs will have had a slightly more traditional offseason in terms of length.

So what are your thoughts on this? Christmas Day games are definately a must (good boxing day viewing here in Australia) but no All Star Weekend is upsetting. 72 games is close to the normal season, however more games will be played in a short timeframe.

END. x ASICS GEL-LYTE III ‘Pearl’

0

Collaborating once again following the 2018 ‘Wasabi’ sneaker, British retailer END. and ASICS share the latest precious gem, the GEL-LYTE™ III ‘Pearl’.

Traditionally given as a 30th wedding anniversary gift, the pearl symbolises something that takes time to grow – the perfect source material in the year that marks the 30th Anniversary of the iconic GEL-LYTE™ III sneaker and the 15th Anniversary of the retailer.

The GEL-LYTE™ III original designed by Shigeyuki Mitsui and released way back in 1990 when both the technology inside and the construction were both cutting-edge. Rich with history of going against tradition and subverting stereotypes, with this new iteration being no different.

Cast in a cascade of colours to reflect the iridescent nature of pearls, this bold interpretation of the legendary split tongue structure sees END. and ASICS combine purple, lavender grey, pink and ivory hues. Constructed with plush suede uppers and tumbled leather, this instantly recognisable silhouette encapsulates the aesthetic properties of the rare object.

Looking as if it were shucked from an oyster merely moments ago, the striking silhouette features Mother of Pearl sock liner, a clear outsole and co-branded detailing to the heel. This bold, conceptual sneaker is presented with three sets of laces to allow for subtle customisation.

Housed inside a bespoke shoebox detailed with pearl graphics and END. branding, the ‘Pearl’ truly encapsulates the advanced nature of the GEL-LYTE™ III and its status as a long-standing silhouette within the world of sneakers.

The Australian release of the END. x ASICS GEL-LYTE™ III ‘Pearl’ will be tomorrow, 23rd of October at Above The Clouds, Highs And Lows, Up There, Laced, Sneakerboy, USG and Subtype.

GmbH x ASICS GEL-QUANTUM 360 6

0

Third collaboration project between ASICS and Berlin fashion label GmbH, began with the GEL-QUANTUM 360™ 6, and was first debuted in GmbH’s Autumn Winter 2020 fashion show in Paris in January earlier this year. This radical departure for a ASICS classic, has been rendered almost unrecognisable through a unique methodology of colour, composition and materials.

GmbH cut and sliced the shoe apart, deconstructing the upper into an open flat artwork, coloured in asymmetrically, making each shoe of a pair seem unique and mismatched.

Executed in 3 highly contrasting colour combinations: white, red and black, purple, blue and black and finally off-white and gum, the sneakers features GmbH’s signature play with glossy and suggestive surfaces. The slick renderings, appear both ominous and seductive.

However, all the functionality and technology of the GEL-QUANTUM 360™ 6 have kept its integrity, uniting the fluidity of its technical components with a progressive look. 360-degrees of GEL™ technology-based cushioning circulates the midsole for lasting comfort.

GmbH creates fashion through storytelling, craft and technology. Both brands further promote an importance in originality and craftsmanship within sportswear.

The GmbH x ASICS GEL-QUANTUM 360™ 6 are now available at Above The Clouds, Sneakerboy and Up There.
