R’ART’GS is a collaborative effort between a pool of creative minds in the design field and contemporary artists in specialised crafts. By combining design and art, R’ART’GS aims to fill the gap in the market for art-centric people who are looking for a next level form of decorative piece for their collection.

Working with renowned craftsmen such as tattoo artists, illustrators, R’ART’GS aims to produce unique crossover collections that will cater to both interior as well as art collectors. Each R’ART’GS piece comes with a special label that denotes its very limited quantity production run.

Our inaugural market launch is a first of its kind; a collaboration with Steel Heart Tattoo, a Singapore based tattoo studio. Available in two exclusive designs. Limited quantities for worldwide purchase.

THE DESIGN

A mainstay of the tattoo community and culture, Japanese tattoos are incredibly influential and illustrate a bevy of beautiful and majestic creatures, inspired by the Japanese mythology and iconography.

As such, the idea to share these beautiful stories through an alternative art form was born.

THE KARAJISHI

Often referred to as the “King of Beasts”, Karajishi or “guardian lions” are another popular character from traditional Japanese folklore. Statues of these lion-like mythological creatures have traditionally been placed at the entrances of palaces and temples to chase away evil spirits, hence them being well-known symbols of courage as well as guardianship.

These creatures are a common sight in traditional Japanese tattoos, but contrary to what their name implies, they aren’t really dogs at all. They’re actually descended from Chinese lions, which are known as shi and considered the king of all beasts. Because of lions’ natural instinct to protect their own, they became seen as talismans of protection with the power to ward away demons, hence wealthy families started commissioning statues of them to guard their homes and temples.

THE KIRIN

The Kirin is another chimeric creature of Japanese folklore, and his rare appearance marks the passing of a sagely leader or ruler. Kirins are seen as a good omen, signifying a better tomorrow achievable through the reflective process of mourning. They are traditionally rendered with the body of a deer, head of a dragon, the scales of a fish, hooves of a horse, mane of a lion, the tail of an ox, and a set of – or single horn.

Kirins are considered the unicorns of traditional Japanese tattoos, not only in the sense that they’re rare, but in that they are literally the Eastern cousins of unicorns. These mythological creatures actually predate unicorns by hundreds of years.

The Karajishi and Kirin are now available for pre-order at https://www.rartgs.com/. Make sure you check R’ART’GS Instagram page for more upcoming releases https://www.instagram.com/r_art_gs/.

JD Sports Wetherill Park

With the store opening always comes some sort after Jordans that have been released and sold out. With the Wetherill Park opening, they managed to get the Flint 13’s, Indigo 13’s Top 3 5’s and a few others which werent put on the shelf due to limited numbers.

JD Sports Wetherill Park

JD Sports are very rapidly expanding around Australia and are becoming the true kings of sneakers in Australia. They were able to keep their stores open during the lockdown of COVID-19 and sales have been strong for them during the past few months.

Here is a look around the store. If you’re in and around the Wetherill Park area, be sure to head down there and check it out. The store itself is a bit more unique then the other ones around Sydney due to the store size. The store is quite shallow but seemed longer due to the space they were able to obtain from Stockland’s Wetherill Park.

Here is the live video from the opening on our Facebook page

Air Jordan 5 Raging Bulls Release Details

0

Get excited Retro 5 fans, one of the iconic classics is set for a re-release in 2021!

Since its release in 2009, the now considered all-time classic retro pack Air Jordan 5 Raging Bulls has been quiet through the years, maintaining a high chair position in the resell market.

For 2021, the red suede pair from the classic pack is set to make a return to retail sometime around mid 2021, all according to Sneakerfiles. Much like the original release, the Air Jordan 5 Raging Bulls is expected to arrive in OG everything featuring red suede upper with matching red laces and reflective tongues to set it off.

The ‘Red Suede’ Air Jordan 5 originally released part of the Air Jordan 5 ‘Raging Bull’ Pack (Toro Bravo Pack) in 2009. Although the Red pair has received the ‘Raging Bull’ nickname, the other pair is known as 3M. The original release also came with special packaging that resembles a wooden box that has a bulls eye in Red.

It’s also worth noting the shoe will return individually boxed, separate from its bundled partner with 3M iteration throughout its upper. A set release date did not come attached with the leak report but look for the Air Jordan 5 “Raging Bulls” to hit select retailers and Nike.com sometime in Mid 2021

Are you excited to see these back on shelves? Will you cop? Let us know

Cue jokes about the suitable footwear to step on LEGO…

Here are some close up photos of the collab

The branded shoes also might come in a themed box. That’s certainly the suggestion when the shoes were announced in a stop-motion video which is cool but reveals no details. The Lego x Adidas ZX 8000 sneaker was initially pegged for a late September or early October release, but the date printed on the box seen in the video suggests that the shoe could arrive on Sept. 25. As of now, the release details surrounding the collab have yet to be confirmed by the brands, but stay tuned.
