Marvel Studios “Eternals” Official Trailer

0

Well, this was a surprise drop last night. Marvel Studios out of no where dropped a new trailer for the upcoming “Eternals” movie. And boy…did it not disappoint.

With Black Widow done and dusted, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings about to hit cinemas in the coming weeks, its time to really dive into the next blockbuster directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Chloe Zhao. Marvel have hinted that Eternals could be one of the studios most unique films to date and this trailer definately showcases what they are saying.

Now, the big question is where in the timeline will this one fit? We have heard from the early reactions from Shang-Chi that Shang-Chi will be taking place after the events of Avengers: Endgame and this will be after that. So it looks like Marvel is in full swing with moving forward in the timeline.

The biggest hint is in the opening of this trailer, where Ajak (Salma Hayak) and Ikaris (Richard Madden) have a renuion to discuss the two key events of the five-year infinity war with Thanos. That is after the snap (or Blip) caused an amount of cosmic energy that has catalyzed an event called “The Emergence” which (as the name suggests) will bring a world-ending threat that only the “Eternals” can stop.

The biggest hint of who the big bad in this one was a quick look at The Celestials (which everyone online thought might have been Galactus). Whichever way this plays out, this trailer has definately peaked alot of interest in Marvel fans in the direction they are going with Phase 4.

So what are your thoughts? Are we looking forward to the next wave of MCU movies? Are you liking the direction. Let us know your thoughts

Marvel Studios “Eternals” is due to hit cinemas on November 5th 2021

PAC-MAN x CASIO Vintage A100WEPC

CASIO has announced the upcoming release of the exclusive PAC-MAN x CASIO Vintage collaboration watch, the A100WEPC! This limited-edition watch is a nostalgic throwback to one of the world’s first blockbuster video games: PAC-MAN. The original PAC-MAN was a classic arcade game first released in 1980 by NAMCO in Japan.

The watch design pays homage to the original CASIO F-100 released in 1978. This was the first ever CASIO quartz watch in a resin case. This unique watch became even more popular when Officer Ellen Ripley (played by Sigourney Weaver) wore this watch in the classic 1979 sci-fi movie Alien by Ridley Scott. Ironically, the F-100 was discontinued that same year, and for those who mourned the disappearance of the vintage watch, this year’s release of the A100WE series is cause for celebration. They kept the same shape and structure, so they retain that same F-100 classy, retro look.

The PAC-MAN x CASIO Vintage A100WEPC collaboration of course features the iconic, colourful, pixelated PAC-MAN and ghost characters. Moreover, the face design faithfully replicates the PAC-MAN game screen. Laser engraving on the black ion-plated metal band lays out the game maze, and has delightful details such as the line marking the exit of the nest, where the ghosts emerge. The gold-plated watch case is inspired by the PAC-MAN arcade game cabinet. From the 4 buttons below the screen, you can expect the usual CASIO Stopwatch, Alarm and Calendar functionality.

The PAC-MAN x CASIO Vintage A100WEPC is $299.00 and will be available in limited quantities from the CASIO Australia website, Solemate Sneakers and other selected CASIO retailers from the end of August. Stay up to date via the CASIO Instagram page and website.

Adidas Sells Reebok to Authentic Brand Group

0

The much anticipated sale of the Vector Brand group has finally happened to the tune of 2.5 Billion USD.

Adidas has agreed to close the deal with the Authentic Brand Group somewhere around the first quarter of 2022.

Adidas first acquired Reebok back in 2006 to the tune of 3.6 Billion USD. While the partnership generated some early buzz in the retro basketball and lifestyle department it failed to sustain the momentum. Eventually, the Reebok brand became an afterthought and was relegated to a bench role under the Adidas Umbrella.

Authentic Brands Group Inc — a New York based brand management establishment with over 30 notable apparel brands under its wing, is set to acquire the Boston based company. The image and likeness of Shaquille O’Neal, Muhammad Ali, Julius Erving, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Aerosport, Above the Rim, Sports Illustrated and another 20 more are just some of the notable brands and names being managed by ABG.

Meanwhile, Adidas is set to refocus its strength towards its “Own The Game” campaign, in the hopes of further strengthening and sustaining its future market growth in the industry.

Angelo Baque x ASICS GEL-KAYANO® 14

0

Creative mastermind Angelo Baque teams up with ASICS to launch the Angelo Baque x ASICS GEL-KAYANO® 14 sneaker – dubbed by Baque the ‘Rebirth of Cool’. This sneakers marks the first collaboration bearing his namesake.

The launch will be the first in an ongoing partnership between the ASICS and Baque, who spent a decade at Supreme before launching his own label, Awake New York. The release also marks the formal launch of Angelo Baque Studios, a new creative venture that will allow Baque to focus on projects under his own name.

As a first-generation American born to Ecuadorian parents, Baque aimed to create something that evoked a feeling of pride for his parent’s homeland, intentionally accenting the shoe with blue, yellow and red as a nod to Ecuador’s flag.

“As a 14-year-old growing up in Queens, I used to take the train down to Paragon Sports near Union Square. I would see an ASICS running sneaker on the wall and I loved the excitement of incorporating it into my style and making it my own. With my GEL-KAYANO® 14 shoe, I wanted to evoke that same energy and feeling,” Baque said.

The Angelo Baque x ASICS GEL-KAYANO® 14 ‘Rebirth of Cool’ features a grey, black, silver and blue upper, complemented with a red-orange accent and yellow along the outer edge of the sole. Baque’s goal with the footwear was to create something that felt contemporary while still including tributes to his family’s heritage and New York City upbringing.

Baque notes that as a teenager, he often frequented stores that offered technical running gear and footwear. “I loved the idea of using a running shoe not just for its original purpose, but to be worn for everyday life,” he explains. “ASICS provided the perfect canvas for that, and they’re the first brand to take a chance on me and offer me a collaboration under my own name.”

The Angelo Baque x ASICS GEL-KAYANO® 14 ‘Rebirth of Cool’ will release on the 13th of August and will be available at ASICS.COM, Above The Clouds, Highs and Lows and Up There. For other ASICS features, click HERE.

Samsung Unpacked 2021 Wrap

0

It’s that time again folks. Samsung have just finished wrapping up their Unpacked 2021 event and by the looks of it, they really want you to buy a foldable phone.

This time around, we didnt get any announcement on the next generation Note series. Instead, we got 2 next generation Fold and Flip phones. Say hello to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 & Galaxy Z Flip 3.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the top of the tree when it comes to foldable phones. This market is still very niche, however growing quickly. The Fold is for anyone who wants a mini tablet in their pocket; the closed phone opens up to reveal a large 7.6-inch screen. In its folded state, a large touchscreen on the front allows you to use it as a normal phone.

The Fold 3 is a 6.2″ AMOLED cover screen and now supports 120hz refresh rate which now matches the main display. This enables the cover screen to be better viewing for gaming and scrolling through apps. Both Fold 3 and Flip 3 are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chip which powers most flagship phones this year. They will also support 5G coverage.

One thing that hasn’t improved? The crease. It’s the part where the flexible screen folds on both phones, and it’s still very much visible. It’s distracting and somewhat cheapens the look of the display.

As for the Flip3, the screen on the front is now four times larger, so you can see notifications much more clearly and even access widgets like quick settings, Samsung Pay, and others. It comes in an array of fun colors (green is my favorite), and its main screen also gets its refresh rate bumped up to 120 Hz.

The cameras are pretty much the same across the two phones: Both have 12-megapixel main cameras, 12-megapixel ultrawides, and 10-megapixel selfie cameras, all protected with Corning’s new DX glass. The Flip3 gets the same Portrait mode that we’ve previously seen in Samsung’s S21 range, but the Fold3 adds an additional 12-megapixel telephoto camera. And when you open it up like a book, there’s a new 4-MP under-display camera. It’s literally under the display, which Samsung claims is harder to see than typical hole-punch cameras that sit in the middle of the display.

The Fold 3 starts at $2499 which is $500 less than the previous two Fold devices at launch. The Flip 3 starts at $1499 which is $700 less than the last year and pushes the device closer to a standard smartphone pricetag.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic

Samsung is going in a new direction with its smartwatches. Rather than relying on its bespoke Tizen operating system and asking developers to create versions of their apps that only run on Samsung devices, it’s embracing Google’s Wear OS operating system. The company codeveloped the software alongside Fitbit, the Google-owned wearable maker. That means Samsung watch fans gain access to more useful apps, such as Google Maps. And, given the popularity of Samsung’s smartwatches, the move could potentially encourage more developers to build apps for Wear OS, something Google has always struggled with.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 & Watch 4 Classic

The new Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic have user interfaces that look and feel very much like previous Samsung smartwatches, but there are many changes under the hood and some subtle tweaks that make them easier to use. For example, tapping the button on the side of the watch lets you access recently-opened apps. Both watches are powered by a 5-nanometer Samsung processor, and they have higher-resolution screens, 16 gigs of storage, up to 40 hours of battery life, and wireless fast charging.

More importantly, Samsung’s BioActive smartwatch sensor has been redesigned to sit closer to the skin, thereby improving the health tracking abilities of the watches. The sensor can still measure electrocardiograms, blood pressure, and VO2 Max readings, but it’s faster at automatically recognizing workouts. It also offers more accurate calorie counts, and it now includes bioelectric impedance analysis, which lets you see granular body composition data such as skeletal muscle, body fat, and fat mass.

Samsung says sleep tracking on its watches has improved too. The watches work with Samsung’s Galaxy phones for snore detection (using the phone’s mics to pick up the sound of you sawing logs) while collecting blood oxygen data via the watch’s sensor once per minute for more detailed sleep analysis.

The Watch 4 starts at $399 and the Watch 4 Classic starts at $549. The phones and watches are due to hit the shelves later in August ahead of the Apple event in September where Apple normally response with their updated models.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2

Samsung has a long history of making some of the best wireless earbuds, and history seems to be repeating with the new Galaxy Buds2. The wirefree buds employ a sleek new design that’s about 15 percent smaller and 20 percent lighter than the previous Buds Plus. However, the new design also has some audio upgrades. The Buds2 have active noise-canceling tech, which the older Buds Plus lacked. They also have a nicer-sounding dual-driver array similar to what’s found in Samsung’s Buds Pro.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2

With three sizes of ear tips and four different colors to choose from, the Buds2 will probably fit most people’s noggins and style requirements. They have an AirPods-matching five hours of battery life with active noise canceling on, 7.5 hours with it off, and come with a Qi wireless charging case, so you’ll never have to find a USB-C cable to juice them up.

The Galaxy Buds 2 will be priced at $219 and will go on sale the same time as the phones and watches.

PSG Sign Lionel Messi

0

It’s official. Lionel Messi is a Paris Saint-Germain player. The GOAT in the football world is finally wearing the GOAT (Jumpman) on his chest

The French powerhouse announced the arrival of the six-time Ballon d’Or winner on Wednesday morning AEST after he emotionally departed Barcelona, his club of 21 years, on a free transfer as the Catalan side proved unable to afford to renew his deal under La Liga’s financial fair play rules.

Messi has signed a two-year deal at PSG, with the option of a third. He will wear the No. 30 shirt.

The 34-year-old could make his debut on Sunday morning AEST against Strasbourg.

“I am impatient to start a new chapter of my career in Paris. The club and its vision are in perfect harmony with my ambitions,” Messi said.

The recruitment of Messi, joining Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in attack, completes what is arguably the greatest front three in football history as well as arguably the greatest transfer window the sport has ever seen for a single club.

In this transfer window, PSG have signed Euro 2020’s best player, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Real Madrid’s captain, Sergio Ramos, Netherlands’ captain, Giorginio Wijnaldum, one of the best young full-backs in the world, Achraf Hakimi, and now, arguably the greatest player of all time.

So how will PSG line up this season? Mauricio Pochettino will be able to field one of the most frightening XIs football has ever seen this season after so many big-name arrivals in the French capital.

Do we hand PSG the Champions League trophy now? Only time will tell if they can finally get their hands on Europe’s top trophy. What are your thoughts on this one football fans? Is this the right move for the 34 year old? Can he bring success to the french team? Only time will tell.

atmos x Adidas ‘Yoyogi Park’

0

Introducing the new ZX 8000 and Forum Low titled ‘Yoyogi Park’ – the latest collaboration sneakers from one of Japan’s premium sneaker store atmos and Adidas Originals.

The historic Yoyogi Park suddenly found its name becoming part of street culture due to recent reprints of written works and other collaborations. Established in Shibuya (Tokyo) in 1967, it serves as the inspiration behind the new designs.

Both models in the ‘Yoyogi Park’ pack feature colourways which represent the rich hues of autumn in the park – earthy brown, mustard yellow, and beige with a pop of deep green and orange, or violet and burgundy. The colours are also used to accentuate the design characteristics of each model.

The atmos x Adidas ‘Yoyogi Park’ sneakers use a mix of leather and suede, with the tasteful choice of shaggy suede for the tongue. The medial midsole displays the address of the park, and a delicate pattern of maple leaves can be found on the insole.  Reflective detailing on the tongue and Three Stripes gives the final finishing touches.

Yoyogi Park, a place of relaxation and peace in the middle of a rapidly changing megacity, is exhibited through the atmos lens to create the newest renditions of the ZX 8000 and Forum Low.

The atmos x Adidas ‘Yoyogi Pack’ are now available, can be purchased at A.T.A.D, selected atmos stores, atmos online and Adidas online.

The Kickz Stand Hit List #38

“I was drawn definitely to the quality of the sneaker as well as the colourway. That contrast of tan mesh, teal suede and lime green worked so well.

I wanted to photograph the shoe in an area where the contrasting colours in the sneaker were the hero. The tans/ browns in the background and foreground allow for colours (mainly the teal) in the sneaker to stand out!!!”

Havaianas and BAPE® have a lot in common — they exist on the streets, they’re versatile to wear, and they’re so ubiquitous that anyone can recognize them instantly. Some people only associate closed shoes, especially sneakers, with the fashion we see on the streets, but we want to change that. Streetwear is underpinned by authenticity and comfort and this collab proves we can leverage those attributes to another level,” says Fernanda Romano, Alpargatas CMO.
